He pretended to be unaffected and raised a fist to his lips, giving a small cough as if to cover his emotions. "Don't get the wrong idea. You are the only person I know here and the only friend I have. If something happened to you, then I would not have a single friend left in this place.

I have spent my whole life surrounded by the noise of the city. I just wanted to experience something different and get a feel for a quieter place. Are you not the same?"
