Chapter 659 Hendrix didn't say anything more. He simply held Noelle quietly in his arms.

That night, he didn't do anything else to her. Yet, he felt closer to her than ever before.

Noelle saw Marla and Marshall again sometin April.

Knowing they didn't want to see her, she made sure to choose a day when she was sure they wouldn't be visiting Seline's grave to drop by. She brought Rosie along with her.

By now, Rosie had been attending kindergarten for a month and had adapted well there.

But even until now, she still didn't fully understand what death meant. When she saw Seline's photo on the tombstone, she looked confused. It was as if she couldn't comprehend why the person who used to play with her and buy her gifts and dresses was now lying inside that stone.

Noelle placed the flowers in front of Seline's tombstone. She had prepared swords to say to Seline. To avoid forgetting, she had even written them all down in a memo and spent days revising it.

But now, regardless of how familiar the words in the memo were, she suddenly found herself unable to speak when faced with the photo on the tombstone.

As Noelle stared blankly at Seline's photo, she suddenly heard footsteps coming from behind her. She immediately stiffened before turning around.

Marla and Marshall stood not far away, watching them. Clearly, they hadn't expected to run into Noelle here, and that was why they stopped in their tracks.

Noelle instinctively pulled Rosie behind her. She knew doing this would undoubtedly make them angrier and sadder. But at that moment, her maternal instingmade her do it without thinking.

By the tshe realized what she'd done, she froze.

To her surprise, Marla-who had always looked at her with hatred was unexpectedly calm this time. She didn't even question why Noelle was there. Instead, she simply walked past her.

That reaction left Noelle at a loss of what to do. But she knew they probably didn't want to see her or Rosie, so after clenching her hands briefly, she got ready to leave with Rosie.

However, the next moment, Marla suddenly said, "You're here to see Seline, too, right?" Noelle's steps halted. After a moment, she slowly turned around to look at Marla. It had been so long since she'd seen Marla looking so peaceful.

Noelle stared at her for a while before nodding stiffly.

"That's good. She never really had many friends before," Marla saide m softly, her eyes downcast: She was too blunt and didn't get along with many people in her circle. You were probably her closest friend. "Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so determined to help you back then. So, I'm sure she will be happy to see you visiting her." Marla's voice was strained and tinged with sobs.

Noelle knew that Marla was trying her best to speak calmly about all of this. Before she could respond, Marla slowly turned her gaze toward Rosie.

"Rosie was Seline's goddaughter, so if you have time, you should bring her over to our house more often. We'd like to think of her as our god-granddaughter." mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliIofifl0&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1
