Chapter 228 Jason noticed that Evelyn kept her head down, completely focused on her work as if she truly no longer felt anything for Lucas.

He closed his eyes and thought about something for a moment. Then, he took a sip of his wine.

Oddly enough, he felt a wave of relief.

Evelyn knew which books Tiffany was talking about. They were the sones Lucas had brought back from Grant Manor two days ago.

She was not surprised and did not feel a single ripple of emotion.

Although Graham had turned down Tiffany for the application to the master's program, she did dwell on it for too long. Instead, Tiffany continued to consult Graham on her questions.

As a seasoned expert, Graham still gave a few replies to her questions related to the field.

Across Evelyn sat Tim and Quint. Uninterested in the gossip, Quint leaned over to chat with Evelyn. His expression was full of enthusiasm.

As Jason took a sip of his wine, he caught sight of the scene. A flicker of surprise passed through his eyes.

He knew Quint to be a serious engineer in his company who went by the book. But here he was, showing enthusiasm and friendliness toward Evelyn.

It made Jason wonder about it.

A few seats away, Tiffany sat in the front row.

Someone casually asked, "Ms. Moore, since Mr. Grant has been by your side this whole time, we're all quite curious. How did you two meet?" Just like that, the conversation shifted to the two of them.

Lucas looked up, unhurried and calm.

Tiffany could not help but chuckle lightly. "Us? Well..." Sebastian took a sip of water, then leaned toward Evelyn and whispered, "Who's actually curious about the details of his affair?" Evelyn finished the last line of her summary and turned off her phone. She could now remain completely detached from this topic.

As long as Lucas was present, he and Tiffany would always be the center of attention. But she was not interested anymore.

Yet, before Tiffany could continue, Mason jumped in eagerly, his brows raised with amusement. "Tiffany is too shy, so I'll tell the story." "It was last July, wasn't it? Lucas had business dealings with Tiffany's stepfather's company. They had met a couple of times during that period.

"Later, Lucas attended an art exhibition in Erana and ran into Tiffany again. She was helping Ms. Healy with the exhibition. Lucas took a liking to one of Ms. Healy's paintings, and Tiffany handled the follow-up. After a few meetings back and forth-well... We could say that it was fate!" Mason could be considered a witness to their love story.

After all, the art exhibitions in Erana were a big deal. That summer, Lucas had plenty of ton his hands and often attended them.

Mason had tagged along more than once.

Tiffany smiled with embarrassment. "Lucas would occasionally fly over for the art exhibitions. I happened to know a bit about art too, so we ended up getting to know each other." Lucas thought of something and smiled.

Evelyn only sipped on her tea, keeping to herself.

Sebastian sneered coldly. "Wow! He went across continents to have an affair." Who would want to hear the details of how they started their infidelity? They went into great detail-down to the month, even.

Were they that proud of it? Sebastian snorted at that thought. "Mason sure did Tiffany good. He confirmed the timeline of the affair to everyone.

"Are they not afraid of the truth of your marriage with Lucas spreading? Tiffany is definitely going to be labeled as a homewrecker by that time," he whispered to Evelyn. He sure would love to see that! Evelyn thought of last summer. It was no wonder Lucas had been flying overseas so often back then.

Sebastian glanced at where Graham sat. As expected, his expression had gone dark.

Clearly, Graham had heard enough. He stood abruptly and walked out without a word, his hands behind his back. Everyone was caught off guard.

Tiffany looked over in confusion. She turned to Lucas and asked, "What happened with Professor Hill? He seems upset all of a sudden." Lucas did not even blink. "No idea." Evelyn knew that Graham was angry. She quietly excused herself after a moment of thought and slipped out to find Graham.

After catching up to him, she scratched her head meekly. "You're not eating anymore?" Graham glared at her. "You still have the nerve to smile?" "Professor Hill, don't worry about it. I don't care anymore," Evelyn replied with a faint smile.

Graham wanted to reprimand her, but snorted instead. "A man's heart is the most worthless thing in the world. They may have gotten together, but who knows how far they will get? As for you, build your capabilities, piece by piece. That's the only thing that will truly ever be yours." Evelyn broke into a smile. "Got it."

Before Graham left, he added, "Cto my room with Sebastian om tomorrow. I'm assuming you've sorted out the key points from this trip. We will go over them tomorrow." Evelyn agreed to it immediately. After seeing Graham off, Evelyn let out a quiet sigh.

She did not feel like returning to the restaurant. The others still had not resolved their discussions on the technical difficulties, while Evelyn had already sorted everything out. She decided to go for a walk instead.

As she reached the hotel's veranda, she heard voices up ahead.

"The house's design is finished?" It was Mason's voice, followed by the sounds of a lighter clicking.

"Yeah, more or less." Lucas' tone was cold and serious.

Mason chuckled. "I heard you've even planned out the nursery? You sure can't wait, huh?"
