Chapter 225 Sebastian's expression made it seem like he had no ulterior motives. It was as if he were simply following the flow of the conversation.
Tiffany frowned subtly. She could not understand why Sebastian was so protective of Evelyn, not allowing others to speak the truth about her.
Now, he was turning the spotlight on her and Lucas. What was he trying to achieve with this? Brandon looked at the two. Given how close Lucas and Tiffany had been, they were probably headed toward marriage.
"Mr. Grant, has it been made official yet? I'm sure your family is pleased with Ms. Moore," Sebastian said with sincerity.
Evelyn kept silent. She knew Sebastian could not bear seeing her wronged and wanted to return the favor. After all, Maria only acknowledged Evelyn as her granddaughter-in-law. If not, Lucas would not have needed to sign that kind of divorce agreement with her. Sebastian exclaimed again, "Wait, she hasn't met your family yet? How come?" Brandon was also taken aback. Tiffany was excellent in every way, and their relationship was stable too. By all logic, they should have already made it official. Tiffany looked up at Lucas and pressed her lips together without responding.
Lucas remained unfazed and offered an indifferent smile. "That's a private matter. Still, thank you for your concern, Mr. Hill." He did not intend to explain any further. Sebastian's remarks left no marks on him. Only then did Sebastian lower his smirk a little.
Lucas was deliberately protecting Tiffany's image! He would not allow even the slightest suspicion that Tiffany had cbetween a marriage to surface.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtEvelyn was not interested in their conversation because she knew that one day, Lucas would introduce Tiffany to his family regardless. That was his own business.
She turned to Sebastian and said, "You guys can continue. I'll head back first." Most of the people here had already exchanged greetings. Today was just the introductory phase, and the actual tour would take place over the next few days. Evelyn left without bothering about how the rest of the reception went.
When Quint stepped out of the crowd, hoping to find Evelyn to continue their earlier discussion, she was already gone.
He was a little disappointed. He had a feeling that Evelyn would have given him deep insights on the topic. Evelyn did not slack off when she got back to her room. She and Sebastian would be in Pearlia for three days, so she brought sbooks to read in her free time.
She had no idea what tthe reception ended.
The next day, the base sent cars to pick everyone up.
Evelyn and Sebastian shared a car. When they got out of the car, they saw Lucas stepping out of another vehicle.
He walked around and opened the car door like a gentleman.
Tiffany stepped out with a smile, and the two seemed to be chatting about something. Lucas leaned down slightly to hear her words.
Evelyn looked straight ahead and followed the officials inside the base.
The inside of the base had showcases of the most advanced combat drones, autonomous vehicles, and military aircrafts in the country. There would be guided tours, with opportunities for close-up inspection and test flights. Graham led the group through the facility, highlighting the main research subject of the visit to everyone-the military transport aircraft.
Tiffany was familiar with this type of aircraft. When Graham was explaining the crucial concepts, she could easily point out the key focuses during the discussion among the engineers.
This drew the attention of engineers from various companies. Even Graham gave her a second glance.
He could tell that Tiffany was not all talk. She had a solid foundation in this area.
However, there was someone better out there.
Evelyn had already been working with cutting-edge technology five years ago. Compared to her, Tiffany still had a long way to go.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmStill, many engineers were more willing to converse with Tiffany.
A few were surprised by her words too. "As expected from a Valtech University alumni. Ms. Moore has a bright future ahead." Another joked, "With a girlfriend like her, Mr. Grant is making us feel inadequate."
Hearing that, Tiffany was a little embarrassed, but still turned to m Lucas and gave him a shy smile. Seeing the display, Sebastian got goosebumps. Were they here to study or to be lovey-dovey?
Evelyn kept her head down, not sparing them a single ounce of attention. She quietly took notes while listening to Graham, m occasionally leaning in to observe the aircraft's specifications. Based on the data provided, she started analysing and jotting down her calculations.
When Quint approached, he happened to notice sof her notebook's contents.
It was impressively advanced.
"Ms. Reed, have you cup with something new?" Quint admired how O she stayed focused and low-profile. He was also impressed by their brief conversation in the elevator yesterday. "Mr. Harrow." Evelyn looked up and saw him.
Quint offered a smile and took the chance to ask a question about Fly-By-Wire systems.
She thought for a moment before recommending a book. "You might want to take a look at this book. It should offer suseful insights."
