Chapter 224 Graham pushed up his glasses, and his gaze landed on Lucas. He let out a barely audible snort.
Without any explanation, he turned and walked away.
As he passed by Evelyn, Graham frowned in displeasure, tinged with regret and heartache.
She gave up her academic future to marry a man, only to be betrayed so thoroughly. Her husband was lavishing his affections on another woman right in front of her! The past three years of her youth had been wasted for nothing.
Evelyn shrank back slightly, suddenly feeling a little guilty.
Brandon did not miss the look Graham gave Evelyn. It almost seemed like disgust.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtA small smile tugged at the corners of his lips, as if he had expected that. After Graham walked away, Brandon and the others headed over.
Everyone turned to Sebastian with curiosity. "Mr. Hill, do you know what's going on? Does Professor Hill really already have someone else in mind? Could you give us a hint?" If Graham really had his eye on sprodigy, it would be good to get in touch with them early. It would be best to get them to join their own company. Tiffany furrowed her brow and turned to Sebastian for answers as well.
She, too, was curious. Who else out there could possibly be that good? Sebastian raised a brow, his smile inscrutable. "On this, you'll find out soon enough." Naturally, he had no intention of revealing anything.
The examinations had not been officially set yet, so there was no point in causing a commotion. Besides, if he had mentioned Evelyn now, the crowd's response would likely not have been positive.
It was better to wait until everything was in place and let actions speak for themselves.
Everyone could tell that Sebastian was holding back.
Lucas did not seem concerned and glanced at Tiffany, who was lost in thought. He handed her a glass of wine and said casually, "Take it slow. Nothing's been decided yet." His reassurance made her smile. "I know." She understood that someone like Graham, who stood at the top, would naturally be strict and harsh. Next time, she would prove herself and leave no room for criticism.
Barndon added, "Professor Hill's standards are high, but once he sees your true capabilities, you'll be fine. Your education and skills are the real deal. Don't be nervous." Tiffany turned to him and returned a polite smile. "Thank you, Mr. Connor." Evelyn had no intention of joining their conversation and took note of the time. She should just head back and continue studying.
She was just about to tell Sebastian this when Brandon suddenly asked with a smile, "I don't think you ever mentioned where you graduated from, Ms. Reed. Was it a university or a community college? What was your major?" Evelyn turned to him with an icy expression.
Brandon's face remained perfectly neutral, as if it were just a casual question.
Lucas slowly glanced at Brandon before his gaze landed on Evelyn, unconcerned. Tiffany had already calmed down from earlier. She arched a brow but kept quiet. Sebastian sensed the shift in the atmosphere.
Evelyn responded coldly, Mr. Conner, are we that close? Do I owe you an answer to that?" Brandon frowned immediately. She was not being polite at all.
Still, he quickly assumed that her strong reaction meant she had something to hide.
Her credentials must not be presentable, yet she had the nerve to mock Tiffany earlier?
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHe shook his head and turned to Sebastian. "Don't blme for being curious. It's just thax Professor Hill didn't seem pleased when he walked past you earlier. Could it be that he was... disappointed?" he said. Brandon knew that something was up between Sebastian and Evelyn.
Perhaps he had brought Evelyn along to such an important opportunityn today to test the waters and see how Graham would react. If so, it made sense that Graham would look at her that way.
Graham probably disapproved of Sebastian getting romantically involved with Evelyn. There was no way she was getting married into the Hill family.
Tiffany caught the implications in Brandon's tone and raised an M eyebrow agreeing with him. Sebastian was not oblivious to their schadenfreude.
He gave a lazy smirk and turned to Lucas and Tiffany out of the blue.
"Now that you mention it, have you introduced Ms. Moore to your family yet, Mr. Grant?"
