Chapter 221 As the elevator door opened, Evelyn and Sebastian stepped out to their floor. Once they were gone, Tim and Kent exchanged glances with the others inside. Tim could not help but remark, "Did anyone else notice how Mr. Hill treats Ms. Reed more like an equal than a subordinate? It's like he takes pride in having her on his team." Quint Harrow, an engineer beside him, nodded. "She knows her stuff. I feel like I'm totally out of her league." That caught Tim by surprise. Quint was one of the most experienced engineers in his company! Flying Seal Group far exceeded their expectations.
A reception was held during the evening, mostly for everyone to get to know each other. Graham would be in attendance as well.
When Sebastian cto get her, Evelyn had just finished unpacking and changing into a comfortable outfit, with a trench coat to layer.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe event was held in one of the hotel's ballrooms. As they stepped in, Sebastian leaned in and said quietly to Evelyn, "My dad will be here soon. He might quiz you on your studies." Evelyn could not help but tense up a little. She had been studying whenever she could while juggling with Flying Seal Group's project.
Completing the postgraduate degree under Graham was not easy. She would not take it lightly. Even if she had past achievements in military engineering projects, she had to spend more timproving herself.
Tim and Quint soon approached them.
Quint's face lit up when he saw Evelyn. Despite already being in his 40s, he greeted her eagerly.
"Ms. Reed, would you be willing to share your thoughts on the technical roadblocks we're facing in autonomous drone navigation and Al systems?" He believed that Evelyn would surely have insights on this topic.
Evelyn was surprised by his enthusiasm but nodded. "Sure. What about it, specifically?" "Right now, we're hitting bottlenecks in sensor precision. What's your take on the issue?" Quint continued. Evelyn paused to think of an explanation.
Meanwhile, Brandon entered the ballroom just in tto catch Quint's question.
He was puzzled. Why was Quint discussing such technical issues with Evelyn? He then noticed Sebastian standing nearby, and it clicked. Quint must have been aiming for a conversation with Sebastian, but assumed Evelyn was just as competent because she was standing next to him.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBrandon walked over, clinking glasses with Sebastian before turning to Quint. "Mr. Harrow, I'm afraid Mr. Hill will be in high demand tonight. If you want to dive deep into the topic, might I suggest someone else?" Evelyn gave him a cold look.
Brandon gestured toward a corner of the room. "Do you know Ms. Moore? Aside from Mr. Hill, she's the most credentialed person in this field. Why not try asking her?" Evelyn followed his gaze and saw Tiffany and Lucas walking in, arm in arm.
With Lucas there, they drew immediate attention from all om company executives and engineers. Afgroup had already gathered around Tiffany, eager to engage in discussion.
Tiffany carried herself with grace and spoke confidently. Lucas stood by her side with a lazy smile on his face, allowing her to shine in the spotlight.
Evelyn stepped away, heading to the refreshment table. The conversation had been redirected, so she might as well leave it to someone else and grab a bite instead. Brandon watched her walk off and raised a brow.
At least she knew when to step away. With Tiffany in the room, trying to keep up her pretense would have been embarrassing.
Evelyn did not notice how others thought of her at that moment.
