Chapter 216 Maria did not notice anything wrong with Evelyn's tone because she was as calm as usual.
Maria then asked with concern, "I thought both you and Lucas could cback and stay here. Have you settled in, then? Do you wantto arrange a housekeeper for you guys?" Lucas had many properties under his name. Once he picked one according to his needs, he could get someone to go over and clean it up as soon as possible. However, since both Lucas and Evelyn were busy with work, they would hardly be home.
Evelyn replied gently, "There's no need for that, Grandma. We've taken care of everything." "Alright," Maria replied. She could not help but ask, "Why did you guys suddenly want to redo the renovations?" It was all fine when they were staying there, was it not? It had only been a little over three years since they first renovated it.
She clearly remembered that Evelyn worked hard on the place back then.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtEvelyn looked away for a moment. At last, she calmly said, "Maybe it's to get rid of all the bad memories from the past and start a new life." Perhaps Lucas was not erasing their marital home, but the three years he had unhappily spent with her. It was as if she had never existed at all.
Maria did not notice what Evelyn was implying. She subconsciously thought that Evelyn meant she and Lucas were planning to live a good life together. As such, her mood was instantly lifted.
"It's great that you think that way. Just do as you see fit, then. Cand have dinner at Grant Manor when you guys have time. Don't overwork yourselves," said Maria.
"Got it, Grandma. Take care of yourself too," Evelyn replied to her gently and calmly.
After Evelyn ended the call, she stared quietly at the date that was circled. She dotted the date with the marker and thought back to who she used to be.
When she was renovating the marital home, she carefully selected everything, even if it was just a tablecloth or a vase. She even went to multiple malls just to pick out what she liked. Just like that, she filled their hbit by bit.
It was unlike the Harrison residence back then. Though Derek was her father, she still felt like she was living under someone else's roof.
Perhaps it was because she never had a sense of belonging living with the Harrisons that she cherished and protected her marriage with Lucas so much.
However, the anticipation she had a few years ago was completely extinguished by heart-wrenching silence. Evelyn put the marker down and counted the days.
It would happen soon. She just needed to hold out another 12 more days, and the divorce would be finalized. Evelyn did not spend too much tpondering what would soon happen. She moved to turn on her computer as she had to look through the plans for the project.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSebastian knocked on her door and placed a cupcake on her table. Then, he said, "My father's joint research project is going to kick start soon, and the people involved will have to go to Pearlia to study for three days. All joint ventures have two spots for their technicians. I'll go with you." Evelyn smiled as she looked at the cupcake. "When are we leaving?" "Tomorrow afternoon," Sebastian replied.
Evelyn nodded and said, "Alright." Sebastian looked at the flights on his phone and said, "I'll book the flights. We'll have Justy stay back to continue liaising with TechNova Group." After he booked their flight tickets, he walked off while looking at his phone.
Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks.
He frowned and looked back at Evelyn. "The property at Peninsula Heights is your marital hwith E your ex-husband, right?" Evelyn looked up and asked, "What's the matter?"
Sebastian handed Evelyn his phone and said, "Your ex-husbandis making e a big deal of it for Tiffany right now." Evelyn saw Mason's Instagram post on the screen.
He had taken a photo of Evelyn's marital hfrom afar, and a woman's back could be seen on the right side of the photo. She was looking at the house before her.
Of course, Evelyn could tell that it was Tiffany, especially since Mason wrote in the caption, "Here as an advisor." They were probably there to figure out how to change everything about the house from the inside out.
