Chapter 173 Lucas held the envelope in his hands and glanced at the courier label, noting that it was sent two months ago. As he turned the envelope, he noticed something small inside it. It seemed there was something else hidden within it.

His gaze flickered for a moment, and he considered calling Evelyn.

Just then, the office door was suddenly pushed open, and Tiffany rushed in with red eyes. "Lucas, please cwithto the hospital. My mom's in a coma..." Lucas' expression immediately hardened, and his fingers tightened around the envelope. "Let's go." Tiffany hurriedly headed toward the door.

Lucas glanced down at the envelope and then made a quick decision. He walked downstairs while holding it.

When Michael returned, he bumped into Lucas and Tiffany as they were heading down. Lucas coldly instructed, "Bring the car here, we're going to the hospital." Michael noticed the envelope in Lucas' hand and immediately recognized it. "Understood," Michael replied.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Tiffany rushed upstairs without wasting a moment.

Lucas glanced at her retreating figure, then turned to Michael and handed him the envelope. "Take this and all the items in my office's cabinet. Send them over to my marital hand have Maggie place them in my study. I'll head over tomorrow." Michael was confused. He didn't understand why Lucas suddenly seemed so concerned about these things, but he nodded and replied, "Understood, Mr. Grant." As Lucas walked toward the elevator, he took out his phone and briefly checked the screen. His steps slowed for a moment, and then he tucked his phone away and walked over with a cold expression.

Evelyn had spent the night on the couch.

She hadn't truly slept, merely drifting in and out of a half-conscious, hazy state. For sreason, she felt an unsettling sense of anxiety.

She had expected this outcome-spending the night alone. Even without that phone call, she knew that Lucas wouldn't have stayed with her all night.

She slowly cleared her mind and checked her phone, but Lucas hadn't replied to her message. She didn't know if he had seen it, but she assumed he probably didn't take the property division issue seriously.

With no other choice, Evelyn slowly got up. Feeling a bit better, she went to the bathroom to freshen up.

Just as she was about to leave the hotel, her phone buzzed with a message from the hospital. It was information regarding the queue status of the liver transplant. They asked her to go over and complete the necessary procedures.

Evelyn's eyes welled up with tears. Finally, something to be happy about! She didn't waste any tand rushed to the hospital. As the most reputable private hospital in Clementon, the lobby was already crowded by this time.

Evelyn hadn't even had breakfast, but she rushed to confirm the liver donor and spoke with the relevant staff to finalize the queue status.

The nurse hesitated before looking at her. "Are you sure the appointment is for the end of the month?" Evelyn's expression tightened. "Yes, the message clearly stated the queue details. Is there a problem?" "I'm sorry, it seems there was an error. The slot for Leonard has been pushed back a week. The slot in two weeks is for another patient." Evelyn's heart sank. "That's not possible. You can check my message." She reached for her phone, but before she could show it, another senior nurse, Wendy Turner, appeared. She pulled the nurse aside with a subtle expression. "Sorry, but this is what it is. The next available slot is not for Leonard. Please wait for another opportunity." Evelyn had worked in public relations and was well-versed in the ways of the world. She could sense something was off.

There was clearly an issue. Something shady was going on.

This was a private hospital. In such places, anything could be smoothed over with money and power, even skipping the liver transplant queue system.

Her expression darkened, and she asked in a pale voice, "Who's the then other patient?" "Sorry, that's private information. I can't disclose it." Evelyn felt a buzzing in her ears as her mind raced.

Leonard had been waiting for the liver for so long. If the queue was disrupted at

the last moment, it would only make his situation worse. The more delayed it was, the morecomplications could arise in the surgery, and the chances of recovery would diminish. She couldn't let someone else take the slot that was rightfully her uncle's.

Evelyn turned to ask a doctor for clarification, but in that instant, she saw Tiffany and Lucas. They were also at the hospital to handle procedures. Lucas looked up and met her gaze.
