Chapter81l
Margaret tumbled out of her wheelchair and onto the floor. “Terry, please, show mercy. Let the Carroll family go!”
Terrence’s eyes narrowed as he suddenly remembered Valerie's last words.
He glanced up at the second floor.
“Why should I?” His voice was cold.
“Makenzie is my best friend. S-She was wrong to call Valerie a mistress, but she doesn’t deserve to be ruined.
Terry, please, let this go for my sake.”

Margaret finished her plea, her eyes fixed nervously on Terrence.
She hadn’t chere for Makenzie’s sake. That fool meant nothing to her.
In fact, she was behind Makenzie’s appearance at the restaurant to try out how much she meant to Terrence.
Ever since Valerie returned from Washington, D.C., Margaret felt Terrence growing more and more indifferent to
her.
“No way!” Terrence said coldly.
There was no room for negotiation.
Margaret felt a surge of anger and nearly vomited.
She cried pitifully.“Terry, are you really going to be this cruel?”
Terrence’s expression remained stern. “If it weren't for Makenzie, | wouldn't have known how people were talking
about Valerie. I'm making an example of her. The Carroll family won't be spared.”
Margaret clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms.
She didn’t even notice the pain.
“You're not well. Stay out of this from now on,” Terrence said, turning to Esteban with an unhappy look. “And you,
as her doctor, don’t you know who she should and shouldn't see?”

Esteban’s expression shifted, and he lowered his head. “Yes, Mr. Crawford.”
“Go back,” Terrence said coldly, dismissing them.
Esteban glanced at Margaret, who was clearly unwilling to leave, but he had no choice. He helped her back into
the wheelchair. “Margaret, let's go.”
“Wait!” Margaret's voice almost cracked as she called out to Terrence, who was already heading upstairs.
“Terry, |... I've been back for so long and haven't visited Valerie yet. My presence must have been such a
nuisance to her. | want to see her and thank her in person. Can I?”
Terrence rubbed his forehead.
The thought of Valerie's lifeless expression made him uneasy.
