Ryan sat beside the bed, holding her scarred hand against his cheek, gently rubbing it, and kissing her palm.
He usually doted on her, treating her like priceless, fragile porcelain.
He had taken such good care of her, yet those bastards trampled on his beloved in the mud, causing her to break apart...
“Carrie, I'm here. Open your eyes and look at me, okay?” Ryan's reddened eyes welled with tears, his pale lips slightly quivering as
he muttered, pleading, “Wake up... Don’t leavealone.”
He sat there without moving until the sun rose.
Early the next morning, Gregory cto visit his daughter, apanied by Paul.
When Justin, who stood guard outside the ward for the whole night, saw his father, he stood up with aplicated gaze.
“Were you sitting here the whole night without sleeping?” Looking at his deep eye bags, Gregory was shocked.
Justin said lightly, “Yeah. I'm not sleepy.”
“How is this fine? This is the fourth day, right? A human can live for a maximum of seven days without sleep. Do you want to die?!”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtGregory's brows furrowed deeply, and he blurted out in a panic.
The father and son stared at each other, an awkward tension lingering between them.
Justin's eyes widened slightly. He could not believe that this man actually cared about him.
But Gregory's words seemed genuinely concerned. He was not used to it.
Gregory blinked and cleared his throat. “I had Paul buy sbreakfast. You haven't eaten yet, right? Have some.”
Paul immediately placed the two takeout boxes in his hands on the chair.
“There's your grandfather's portion. Take it to him later. He's picky andplains that the hospital food is tasteless, specifically
asking for burgers and whatnot. | don’t know what's so tasty about it. He can’t seem to have enough of them.”
As he spoke, Gregory paused and added, “I heard Bella also stayed here yesterday night. I've bought breakfast for her. You two can
eat together.”
Justin thought he had misheard Gregory and stared at him. “What did you say?”
“Ahem... Since Carrie's accident, she has been busy helping Carrie, even bringing in doctors from Meridan to treat her.”
Gregory pursed his lips, his expression as prideful as ever. “Although | don’t like that girl, she helped my daughter this time. |
should thank her.”
Justin was stunned for a while, feelingplex emotions and unsure what to say.
Paul took the scene in and chuckled lightly.
Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. The relationship between Gregory and Justin did not seem as hostile as before.
“Who is the person in the ward?” Gregory stared at the man’s back through the glass window and asked curiously.
“It's Ryan.”
“You mean he’s Ryan?!” Gregory was stocked. “Why did his hair be like that?”
Paul glanced over. Ryan was still so young, but his hair was as white as snow. Paul felt distressed looking at it.
“So many things happened to his family, and Carrie was severely injured. He was heartbroken. His hair turned white overnight from
grief.” Justin choked up, unable to bear looking any longer.
Gregory's eyes widened with disbelief, but he had to believe it.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAt this time, Ryan walked out with heavy steps.
Seeing Gregory, he felt overwhelming guilt, lowering his head, afraid to look into Gregory's eyes. “Chairman Salvador, sorry for the
intrusion. I'll leave now.”
Just as he was about to pass by, Gregory suddenly grabbed Ryan's arm.
“Paul, buy another set of breakfast for Mr. Hoffman and have it delivered immediately.”
