Bethany covered her mouth, feeling extremely shocked.

While Bethany herself led a private lifestyle of casual sex, she at least tried to maintain an image of innocence.

On the other hand, Zoe had absolutely no shame. Not only did she brazenly have sex with a man in front of Bethany, but Zoe's

ecstatic expressions even carried a hint of boastfulness.

“Zoe, | can’t...” Jason said, trying to maintain ssemblance ofposure.

“Hmph! Useless thing!” Zoe pushed him into the water in disgust. Her naked body emerged from the water as she grabbed a towel

from the rattan chair and wrapped it around herself, barely covering the essential parts.

Jason quickly immersed himself in the water. As Zoe's loyal follower, he naturally wanted to appease his girlfriend right away. But

with Bethany there, he didn’t dare to surface like this.

Zoe took a long drag from her cigarette and said, “What are you yelling for? Everyone in Savrow knows you sleep around more

than anyone else. Don't try to act all innocent with me, Bethany.”

Despite her anger, Bethany couldn't help but secretly admire Zoe. She recalled how Jason had always been Zoe's backup in their

school days. Even a decade later, it seemed he had not moved on from her.

Although the Hoffman family was incredibly wealthy, their background was less than clean, and people in official circles did not like

to associate with them.

But if Zoe could really get close to the Solloways, it would be a huge boost for the Hoffman family’s business and political

connections.

“Hmph, did you callhere in the middle of the night just to watch you two have sex?” Tired of pretending to be polite, Bethany

walked over angrily and sat down.

Zoe blew a smoke ring in her direction, making Bethany cough in irritation. “Has your idiot sister returned to Tideview Manor?”

“No, Grandpa took her in.”

“What was your grandfather's reaction?”

Bethany spoke with gleeful malice, feeling deeply satisfied. “I heard he was furious. | think Ryan's attempt to marry Carrie will be

quite challenging. Carrie's illness has been exposed and her disgrace has spread across the inte. From what I've heard, not just

your Hoffman family, but all the prominent families in Savrow, won't wee a mentally ill woman as a daughter-in-law.

“From now on, Carrie is nothing but a liability. My father cares deeply about his reputation. He would never allow a daughter of the

Salvador family to be mocked for marrying below her status, and the high-society families wouldn't accept her. It seems he'll have

to take care of that good-for-nothing daughter for the rest of his life!”

Bethany laughed until tears streamed down her face. She remembered when Shannon had pinned all her hopes on that fool when

she was alive.

“Who said no one wants her? I've just arranged a good match for her,” Zoe said, her seductive gaze landing on Jason's face.

“Jason, you'd better hurry up and letenjoy your wedding banquet with Carrie.”

“Zoe, | can’t bear to leave you.” Jason swam to the edge of the pool, gazing at Zoe lovingly.

Zoe, however, impatiently kicked his shoulder. “Didn't | tell you to go back and talk to your parents? What did they say?”

“They also think Carrie is a fool and don’t want to pursue this marriage.”

“Then you've got to make it clear to them that you won't marry anyone else but her. Not only that, you need to explain to them

how an alliance with the Salvador family would benefit your family more than the downsides.”

After all, Zoe was a high-society heiress with svision. “If you be Gregory's son-in-law, it would help your dad get the

campaign funds and resources he needs to boost his political career.

“Zoe, you're so clever.” Jason looked infatuated, though he still protested reluctantly. “But the person | truly love is you.”

“She's just a fool. Marry her and keep her at home. She won't get in your way.” Zoe leaned down, gripping his chin while teasing

him. “Things between us will stay the sas they always have.”

Totally captivated by Zoe, Jason ignored the fact that he was still naked and stood up, pulling her into a passionate kiss.

Bethany shivered as she unexpectedly grasped the situation.

The only way topletely destroy Ryan's dreams was to make Carrie someone else's wife—someone from a prominent family like

the Solloways, who even the Hoffmans had to respect.

It was too sinister and ruthless!

No wonder Shannon had always said that Zoe was no ordinary girl. This was a woman who was clearly good at manipulation.

Zoe snuggled up to Jason, glancing at Bethany’s dazed expression. “Bethany, be sure to put in a good word with Chairman

Salvador. We're all in the sboat, so let's work together harmoniously.”

Bethany understood Zoe's subtle warning. “Hmph, you don’t need to remind me. | know what to do!”

Going through with the marriage between Carrie and Jason would not only get back at Ryan but also stop the Hoffman family from

getting the upper hand and keep Zoe from getting too smug.

For Bethany, it was killing two birds with one stone. Why not?
