Chapter 455 Skilled Liar
Michael ignored everyone's attempts to stop him. The thought of Emily trapped in the fire and nearly losing her
life because Sophia pushed her down made his brow furrow deeply.
His eyes burned with anger as he glared at Sophia, like a wild beast ready to pounce and tear its prey apart.
Just then, someone burst through the police station doors, shouting to stop Michael.
"Michael! What the hell do you think you're doing?"
The officers quickly recognized the newcomer and greeted him. It was George Jenkins, the chief of the Emerald
City Police Department and a close friend of Mason.
George was shocked to see Michael causing such a scene at the station. In his mind, Michael was always calm
and composed, indifferent to most things. Why was he losing his mind over a case that hadn't even been
resolved yet?
George didn't fully understand the relationship between Michael and Emily, nor did he grasp the roles Sophia and
Dean played in the situation. But based on the interrogation results, there wasn't enough evidence to charge

Michael had no choice but to accept this outcome, though he was far from happy about it. Before he could
apologize to George, his phone rang. It was Mason.
After confirming that Emily was okay, Michael was too exhausted to visit the hospital. He instructed Andrew to
keep a close eye on her and to call him immediately if anything happened.
Andrew dutifully agreed. He didn't mention that Archibald was still at the hospital with Emily, knowing it would
only cause more trouble for Michael.
Michael headed straight back to the Smith Mansion, as Mason had ordered him to return.

sentiment. He knew this wasn't over.
As soon as they got in the car, Dean's face turned dark. Sophia tried to lighten the mood, but no matter how
hard she tried to flirt or act coy, Dean wasn't having it. Dean had never wanted to get involved with Sophia, but
Archibald's constant opposition pushed him to prove himself. Seeing Archibald and Emily together, Dean decided
to get close to Sophia out of spite. But now, it seemed like he had only created a bigger mess.

Michael was not someone to be trifled with, and Dean could see that. Given Michael's influence in Emerald City,
Emily wouldn't be an easy target either. It seemed Archibald was the one who had misjudged the situation.
Regret washed over Dean. If he had known it would turn out like this, he would have stayed away from the
troublesSophia.
"Dean, why are you ignoring me?" Sophia asked, her voice tinged with fear. "You don't regret being with me, do
you? Don't forget, | own half of the studio. We're in this together now. It's too late to back out."
Sophia's strong-willed nature showed even in this moment, as she tried to threaten Dean. But Dean wasn't afraid
of her threats. If it cto it, he could just cut his losses and return to Everglade City.
Seeing Dean's lack of reaction, Sophia grew more anxious and tried to appease him. But Dean had seen this act
before and wasn't moved.
Dean didn't care about Sophia's conflicts with her sister and brother-in-law. What he needed to know was
whether Sophia had truly intended to kill Emily. If she was that dangerous, he couldn't afford to keep her around.
"Michael said you set the fire at the villa to kill Emily," Dean said, his voice stern. "Sophia, you better tellthe

Sophia's heart raced as she saw the seriousness in Dean's eyes. She wasn't afraid of much, but she knew she
needed Dean's support to continue her fight.
After a long silence, Sophia laughed and tried to take Dean's hand, placing it on her thigh. She put on a pitiful
expression, hoping to gain his sympathy.
"Do you really think I did all this alone?" she asked. "Dean, you've knownfor a while now. Do you think | have
the skills to break into someone's house and start a fire? Emily isn't stupid; she would have noticed me. The
police said it could have been an accident caused by the stove. Why else would they letgo? Do you think it
was just because of your testimony?
"| got a call from my mom that day and lost my temper. | just happened to end up at Emily's house and argued
with her. How could | have planned to kill her? Michael and his assistant were there. Do you think | could take on
two men?"
Sophia was a skilled liar, and her performance was convincing. Dean, who hadn't seen this side of her before,
quickly believed her.
Seeing her cry so pitifully, Dean's heart softened, and he moved to comfort her. "You're right. | overreacted," he
said. "It's Michael and Emily who are the problem, not you."
