Chapter 46 Kill Her
“I just saw the car head over there!”
Corynn could hear the voices vaguely, and initially thought that someone was coming to rescue her. She opened
her mouth to call out to them when that svoice spoke again.
“Once we find the woman, | want you to finish her off!”
There was a particularly menacing intent to the speaker's tone.
It sent a shiver down Corynn'’s spine, and all at once, her mind cleared.
Someone was trying to kill her.
She looked up at the trees the loomed ahead. Her car was wedged between two massive trunks. There was no
way she could maneuver it out of there. She made the split-second decision to abandon it and flee on foot.
Corynn grabbed her purse and phone, then quickly got out of the car and dashed up the hill as fast as her legs
could carry her.
She hadn’t even been gone for a minute when a group of men found her car. One of them inspected the empty
vehicle before walking back to a man who had white streak in his hair. “She’s gone, boss.”
The man blew a puff of smoke from his cigarette and glanced at the severely dented hood of the car. He flicked
the cigarette to the ground and stomped it out with his leather shoe. He turned in the direction of the woods and
said, “Find her.”
The men immediately dispersed to comb through the hill.

Their boss leaned against Corynn’s car as one of the henchmen hurried over to give him a new cigarette and
offered to light it.
“Here, Boss,” the lackey said with a wide smile on his face.
His boss, Coby, raised an eyebrow and patted him on the cheek. “Let's go. We need to find her.”
Meanwhile, Corynn was desperately trying to contact the police as she ran. In her haste, she accidentally tripped
on an overgrown root and fell forward, cutting her wrist in the process. She didn’t bother checking on the wound-
she couldn't afford to-and sprang back up to her feet to continue running.
The adrenaline kept her going. She knew that if she stopped or hesitated for even a second, it would mean
death.
Her shirt was plastered to her back from all her sweat. She slowed her pace enough to hold up her phone and try
to find ssignal.
No such luck. Every single message she had composed failed to send.
Was she really going to die here?

Chapter 46 Kill Her
Corynn heard a snap behind her. The footsteps of her pursuers were getting closer. Her palms were slick with
sweat and blood, and her legs were starting to ache. Even the act of breathing felt arduous now.
She glanced at her phone again and murmured a small prayer. Finally, a lone bar appeared on her signal icon.
Relieved, she tried to make a call, only for her to stumble the moment she pressed the phone against her ear. It
was a heavy fall, too, and caused quite the ruckus.
“Over there!” A voice yelled into the forest. “I heard something over there!”
Corynn bit her lower lip to stifle a cry of pain. Half of her body had grown numb from the fall. She grabbed her
phone and scrambled back to her feet.
The worst part was that she was wearing a dress and high heels. She was a downright mess now, looking like
sescaped patient from a mental hospital.
The sound of footfalls grew louder, and so did her hammering heart. It felt like it would burst out of her chest at
any minute.
Thinking quickly, she picked up a rock and threw it as hard as she could to her left. That should divert the goons’
attention.
Thankfully, her tactic worked. Corynn bounded forward and hid behind a mound of dirt she found. She crouched

Her phone screen had cracked from the fall just now. Looking at it closely, she realized that the calls she had
tried and failed to make was to a number she had previously blocked. She had been so panicked that she
didn’t even notice.
Unfortunately, none of them had ever gone through.

She suddenly heard a string of expletives, and her grip on her phone tightened. The men were back on her trail.
Looking around frantically, Corynn spotted a pit among the overgrown weeds just a few feet away from where
she hid. One would have to be looking closely to find it.
She crawled on the forest floor to get to it. From her estimate, the hole must be two or three meters deep. If she
jumped in, there was a high chance she wouldn't be able to climb back up. Not that she had much of a choice at
this point.
Taking a deep breath, she took one of her heels off and tossed it toward the cliff. She followed it up with another
rock, and as soon as she heard the rustling noise as it made impact, she jumped into the pit.
“Ah-" She almost screamed, but she quickly covered her mouth with both hands.
Her eyes welled up with tears. Corynn had twisted her ankle during the fall.
Just a few minutes later, Coby and his men arrived at the spot she had previously been in.
