Chapter 668 Mistake
Meanwhile, Zeke was standing outside the unremarkable mansion and staring at it with his eyes darkened.
We have neglected Sofie's existence.
She had switched the girls at birth and caused Bailey so much harm. The Shurmer family was supposed to hate her.
Unfortunately, everything that had happened recently had caused her to inadvertently slip their minds.
It wasn't until the truth had gradually been revealed that they realized she was the mastermind.
She had returned to Hallsbay with the goal of wreaking havoc.
Due to the repeated obstacles they had been facing, they had ended up forgetting about her. It had created an
opening for her to strike, which she had taken full advantage of.
Just as he was lost in thought, a bodyguard clad in black approached.
“Mr. Shurmer, the men inside are resisting fiercely. They seemed to have been ordered to do so. Even though we
offered to spare their lives in return for their surrender, they refused to submit.”
As Zeke gathered his thoughts, a curious glint flashed across his eyes as his gaze fell upon the building before him.
Why are they resisting to the end? She should be well aware that there's no escape now that I'm here unless...
His eyes glistened abruptly when a particular scenario emerged in his mind.
“Send men to form a perimeter with a two-kilometer radius. Make sure no one gets through.”
“Um...” In a dilemma, the bodyguard clarified in a trembling voice, “M-Mr. Shurmer, I'm worried that we would
cause a ruckus by locking down this high-end neighborhood. There would be trouble if our use of weapons ended
up unsettling someone from the government.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtGiving him the side-eye, Zeke barked, “I'll bear all the consequences, so what are you afraid of? Hurry up and get it
done.”
“B-But the perimeter is just too big. We don't have enough resources. Since the bulk of our forces has been sent as
reinforcements to Ms. Jefferson, we don't have enough left to complete the task.”
The frown on Zeke's face deepened, as the limited men at his disposal had become an impediment to his plan.
Just as he was lost in a dilemma, a deep voice suddenly rang out from behind. “I've brought some men over to
help. If you don't mind, you're welcome to deploy them accordingly.”
Turning around in reflex, Zeke was surprised to see Raiden standing about ten meters away from him.
It had never crossed his mind that the latter would appear at a time like this. His men probably consist of people
from the special forces. Is it really a good idea to use them for a personal matter?
As if he could read Zeke's mind, Raiden walked over and explained, “They're not from the special forces; they're
elite warriors that I have personally trained. The special training they have gone through gave them a keen sense
of smell, making them good trackers.”
With a cocked brow, Zeke asked curiously, “Do you also think that she's no longer in the mansion?”
Raiden nodded. “Sofie is an extremely crafty woman. She's well aware that she stands no chance against Artemis,
so she'll definitely have an escape plan in the works. Once I learned that you have surrounded her, I knew that you
would have inadvertently scared her away. That's the reason I left behind the forces in the outskirts and came to
provide assistance. Unfortunately, I arrived too late.” He then threw the mansion a glance. “Don't get your hopes
up. Since she had her escape planned, it means that she was well prepared. You might not be able to find her even
if you searched within the perimeter.”
Zeke nodded in agreement. “We have no choice but to try. If we can't locate her, it only means that her time hasn't
come yet. We'll just have to figure out another way to capture her.”
“All right.”
Meanwhile, Bailey was almost frozen to death in an abandoned factory.
As she still hadn't fully recovered from her recent miscarriage, a chilly breeze would be too much for her to endure,
let alone having her body covered in ice and snow.
Without a doubt, Yvette was a vicious woman.
Nonetheless, Bailey was relieved that Artemis didn't lose control of his emotions. Otherwise, their plan would have
gone to waste.
They had put in so much effort and paid such a heavy price. It would be a shame if they couldn't resolve the matter
that very day.
They would then have to face endless danger from the shadows.
Bailey would rather be tormented by the freezing conditions over enjoying a brief respite of warmth.
As long as they could capture Yvette and Sofie together, no price was too high to pay.
Meanwhile, inside a small warehouse nearby, Edmund was tied to a horizontal beam. From where he was being
held, he had a clear view of the suffering Bailey.
The sight triggered increasingly dark thoughts within his mind.
What the f*ck is Artemis doing? How can he allow Bailey to freeze in the snow like that? Doesn't he know that she's
still weak from her recent miscarriage? At the rate she's going, her bones will be permanently damaged. She'll
suffer debilitating arthritis for life even if she manages to subsequently recover. Have I made a mistake? Should I

Before meeting Artemis, Bailey had enjoyed a carefree life where no one dared to offend or lay a finger on her.
Unfortunately, things changed after she had gotten to know him. The ladies vying for his attention would mount
incessant attacks on her.
Bailey had to spend a massive amount of effort to eliminate her enemies, including losing the baby she was
carrying.
And now, she had to suffer irreparable damage inflicted upon her body.
All of this would never have happened if she hadn't met Artemis. If she hadn't returned to the country, wouldn't she
still be enjoying her carefree life overseas?
With a flick of his palm, a sharp blade slipped out of his sleeve and fell into his hand.
While carefully cutting through the rope that bound his wrists, he prayed that everything would end swiftly so that
Bailey's suffering would be alleviated.
Inside the warehouse next door, Artemis was keeping an eye on his watch and gradually stood up when it was time
to make his move.
“I need to leave immediately. I've something else to deal with. Let's get this over and done with.”
He strode out the door the moment he finished.
Yvette followed him at once and asked, “Leader, are you really going to kill Bailey with your own hands?”
Giving Yvette the side-eye, Artemis flashed an indiscernible smile. “Didn't you call me here due to your fear of
death? Isn't my presence enough to show that I approve of your plan and will commit the act in your stead?”
Yvette was rendered speechless, as she had planned to torture Bailey for a while longer.
