Chapter 620 No Trace Of Fetal Heartbeat
A deep line appeared between Bailey's brows.
I had been correct in my assumption. Victoria was devastated after hearing the news, and the intense sorrow that
she felt impacted her infant immensely.
“Tell the doctor to hold on for half an hour. I'll head there right away. Remember to knock her out so she won't
cause any fuss.”
“I know. I've already done that ten minutes ago. Sadly, her current state is quite dire and the doctors are unable to
do much to help her. That's why I called you. I know you shouldn't head out now, but—”
“That's fine. Saving her baby is more important. I'll head over right now.”
After the call ended, Bailey told Zeke, “Let's head there now. I'm afraid that her baby might die if we were to delay
treatment any further.”
“Got it.”
They had just stepped out of the study when they bumped into Steven.
“Where are you going? Didn't you agree to join us for lunch? Mr. Fletcher is waiting for you downstairs. He said he
needs you to examine the bodies,” Steven said.
Bailey didn't bother responding and walked past him to the stairs.
An awkward look crossed Steven's face.
Zeke explained hastily, “Unfortunately, something has happened to her friend and we need to go there right away.
We won't be joining you for lunch. If you'd still like our family to have lunch together, then let Bay return to the
family.”
“Well...”
As he was obviously hesitating, Zeke didn't say anything else and went after Bailey.
Raiden peered at the two figures scurrying down the flight of stairs from where he was in the living room. He

the bodies. Do you need me to bring the bodies to you?”
Bailey glared at him and retorted, “Vicky's pregnant and shouldn't be exposed to barbarous stuff. Don't bring them
to the Gezmond residence. Please tell your men to deliver them to Justin's medical base.”
With that, she strode to the door.
Waverly's expression turned grim. “How could you say that? Previously, when I said Shirley shouldn't be seeing
barbarous stuff, you insisted on transporting the bodies back to the Shurmer residence. Now, you're afraid that the
bodies might affect Victoria. She might be pregnant, but so is your sister-in-law!”
Bailey gave her a pointed look and drawled, “I went out of my way to save her baby for you, so shouldn't that be
enough? Besides, how could you compare Shirley to Vicky? Vicky is more than just a friend to me, she's practically
family, much closer to me than you could ever be.”
“Hey!”
...
Lionel leaned back against the wall in the corridor of the Gezmond residence, listening to the persistent beeping of
machines emanating from the room.
His assistant came up the stairs and stopped in front of him. After offering a slight nod of acknowledgment, he
began to report his findings. “Mr. Gezmond, I have confirmed that it was Mrs. Gezmond who was responsible for
leaking the news. The butler has already subdued her, and they are both downstairs in the living room.”
An icy glint appeared in Lionel's eyes.
I did my very best to hide the truth, but that old lady exposed it easily. D*mn it. She should die.
With that thought in mind, he strode down the stairs and came to a stop at the very last step.
Towering above Kimberly, who was being held down in a kneeling position by several bodyguards, he demanded
coldly, “Why did you do this? I've treated you well over the years by giving you everything I thought you needed.
Why did you cause such trouble?”
Kimberly let out a derisive snort, and her expression quickly turned ferocious.
“Vincent set me up so I ended up sleeping with my stepson. I became a despicable sl*t overnight. No matter where
I go, people would always badmouth me. I've had enough!”
A dangerous look glinted across Lionel's eyes. “So you blamed everything on Victoria. You exposed the truth behind
her mother's death to agitate her so she'll lose her baby.”
“That's right,” Kimberly admitted readily. “Vincent destroyed my reputation, so I must make his daughter pay for his
sin. Now that her baby is dead, my goal is accomplished.”
Veins popped out of Lionel's forehead as he grabbed a gun from his bodyguard and aimed it at Kimberly's
forehead.
Seeing that, the butler quickly reached out to stop him. “Mr. Gezmond, don't do this. She didn't really commit a
serious crime, so you'll end up in jail if you shoot her dead.”
Lionel ignored him and flicked off the safety.
The butler panicked as it was obvious Lionel wanted Kimberly dead.
“Mr. Gezmond, although you may not think of yourself first in this situation, please think of your wife and her baby.
They have no one else but you to rely on. If something were to happen to you, what would become of them?”
His words worked, and Lionel finally snapped back to his senses.
“Lock her in the dark room. I'll decide her fate after dealing with everything else.”
“Got it.”
After the bodyguards dragged Kimberly away, Bailey and Zeke arrived.
“Where is Vicky?”
Lionel quickly made way for them. “She's in her bedroom upstairs. Go take a look at her.”
Without further delay, Bailey ran up the stairs.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAfter barging into the bedroom, she froze in shock at the sight that greeted her.
“What's wrong? Has the baby's heart stopped beating?”
Victoria was already four to five months into her pregnancy, and her baby was already fully formed. Bailey was
confident of saving the baby if its heart was still beating.
However, the sight of the grim expressions on the doctor's face made her heart sink to the bottom of her stomach.
They didn't answer her as they were afraid of coming to the same conclusion.
Lionel looked really scary now, so no one wanted to step up to be the sacrificial lamb to suffer his wrath.
Bailey didn't receive any response, so she didn't bother questioning the useless bunch of doctors.
Grabbing the scanning device from one doctor, she started scanning Victoria's belly.
It only took her a few seconds to determine the baby's condition. The scanning device slipped from her hands and
dropped to the ground with a clang.
The baby's heart has stopped beating. That means I cannot save it anymore. No matter how skilled I am, I cannot
do anything to save it.
Lionel rushed into the room to see Bailey standing transfixed. “What is going on? Is Vicky's health affected?” he
urged.
Refusing to give up, Bailey retrieved a few drugs from her medical kit to formulate a drug that she injected into
Victoria's body.
She then used the scanning device again, but no heartbeat was detected.
Slowly, she closed her eyes and said in a hoarse voice, “We need to perform a D&C. The longer the fetus remains in
her body, the greater the risk that it may affect her health.”
Lionel seemed unfazed as though he had predicted the outcome.
I shouldn't have asked for so much. All I desire is for her to make it out of this ordeal unscathed. I fervently hope
she will muster the strength to pull through this difficult time.
Bailey forced herself to explain, “Lionel, you should understand that Vicky's body is different. As a result, it may be
difficult for her to conceive another child in the future.”
