Chapter 614 Ambush And Kill
For example, we could go to Bailey Jefferson.
Even though Zoey didn't say that out loud, she hoped her suggestion would be enough to steer Waverly toward
Bailey.
If Bailey agrees to treat Shirley and fails, this old hag, Waverly, will hate her with a vengeance. If Bailey declines the
request and lets Shirley miscarry, Waverly will hate her even more! In any case, Bailey will be caught between a
rock and a hard place. That's my goal!
Waverly narrowed her eyes in confusion. “Other solutions? What other solutions can there be? These doctors have
decades of clinical experience and are experts in their respective fields, but not even they can save my grandchild.
Who else can I turn to?”
“Bailey Jefferson,” Zoey replied with a chuckle. “She's the legendary doctor, Anonymous. Wouldn't she be able to
save Shirley's baby?”
For a moment, Waverly was stunned. However, as the realization gradually sank in, she felt a glimmer of happiness.
Oh, yes! How could I have forgotten about Bailey?
She's Anonymous, the famous doctor who pulled Old Mr. Chivers back from the brink of death. Saving a baby would
be a piece of cake for her, wouldn't it?
“I'll make a trip to the medical base now. You guys better watch over Shirley and ensure nothing happens to her in
the next hour. Otherwise, you can all get out of my sight!”
“Y-Yes.”
Meanwhile, in the infirmary at the Revelle residence, Veronique was leaning against the headboard and smiling at
the pensive Justin. “A penny for your thoughts? Care to share?”
After a brief silence, Justin went on to tell Veronique about the plan his mother and Tamara had concocted.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtVeronique's smile gradually faded.
Gosh. Why haven't they given up? Why do they still want to plot against Justin? Then again, this isn't entirely bad.
After all, I understand how Mrs. Xuereb feels. She's worried that her son might leave with me, so she's doing
everything to keep him back. Come to think of it... I'd probably do the same thing if I were in her shoes.
Justin, who knew Veronique only too well, immediately caught on to what she was thinking and grew sullen.
“What's on your mind, Veronique? Is our relationship only good for worrying about these matters?”
Veronique couldn't help but let out a wry chuckle and sigh. “It's inevitable to overthink things. Don't take it to heart.
Besides, I was only letting my thoughts wander. I won't act on them.”
“Didn't we agree to live every day in joy? We'll let fate decide what happens in the future,” Justin muttered as he
gently caressed the woman's pale face.
“Justin, can you take me out to see the world?” Veronique asked tentatively after a moment of silence. “I don't want
to be stuck in this tiny space. There are still so many places I've never been to.”
Justin furrowed his brows.
He was acutely aware that Veronique's current best treatment was to get lots of bed rest, as overexertion would
only accelerate the spread of cancer cells.
However, she had such an expectant look that he couldn't bring himself to reject her.
Moments later, he finally took a deep breath, seemingly having made up his mind. “Where do you want to go?”
Veronique instantly broke into a smile. “Lusterg. The city is an art lover's mecca. Taking in the vibrant art scene of
such a beautiful and quaint city would be good for the soul.”
Justin heaved a sigh of relief.
Well, I suppose domestic travel might be doable.
“All right. Let me talk to your father. If he gives us the green light, I'll take you there.”
Veronique, however, became gloomy and silent.
Dad will never agree to it...
Smiling, Justin shook his head and tousled the woman's hair. “Don't worry. I'll find a way to get his approval.”
Like a child who wasn't good at hiding their emotions, Veronique immediately turned her frown upside down.
“Thank you, Darling!”
In the living room of a suburban mansion, Sofie was drinking coffee on the couch when her phone suddenly rang.
When she saw that it was Zoey calling, she promptly answered it.
“What is it?”
Without further ado, Zoey cautiously shared everything that she had done.
She thought Sofie would fly into a rage and scold her for acting rashly, but to her surprise, the latter complimented
her.
“You haven't been the most reliable, but you've finally done something right this time. In that case, send some
people to keep an eye on Waverly. If Bailey does leave the medical base, I'll send an assassin after her.”
That, of course, made Zoey very happy. “Will you really send someone to kill Bailey?”
Sofie curled her lips into a half smile. “Why else did you call me? Isn't it because you want me to send someone
after her?”
When Zoey didn't reply, Sofie added, “Did you think I wouldn't figure out your intentions? In any case, get someone
to tail Waverly. Once Bailey leaves the medical base for the Shurmer residence, I'll plan an ambush midway and
have her killed.”
“Okay, okay.”
When the call ended, Sofie quickly texted another number: Gather a group of people to be on standby. I might need
you guys to carry out an assassination later.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmMeanwhile, Zeke walked into the laboratory of the medical base with a grim expression.
Needless to say, his demeanor left Bailey feeling perplexed. “What's wrong, Zeke? Did something happen?”
“I just got a message from the Shurmer residence that Shirley suffered another fetal trauma. Our medical team
can't save the baby, so Zoey gave Mom the suggestion to enlist your help. What do you think, Bay?”
Bailey arched her brows and broke into a smile. “That's your child we're talking about. Even though it was created
by inseminating Shirley with your stolen sperm, it's still your baby. That said, the final decision lies with you. I'll save
it if you want me to. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.”
“You should know how much I detest that child and how desperate I am to get rid of it,” Zeke said calmly as he
glanced at Bailey. “Why else did I get Sammy to fabricate that accident? However, now that Mother has personally
come to beg you, she'll hate you with a vengeance if you don't agree to help. I don't want to see that happen.”
With that, Bailey slowly tucked her smile away. “Even without this incident, she still has a lot of prejudice against
me. Zeke, you're the only one in the Shurmer family I want to acknowledge. Besides, I'm past the age of needing
close family ties. I'm content with having Artemis and the kids. Honestly, familial love isn't all that important to me,
so you don't have to worry about it. I won't go if you don't want Shirley to keep the baby.”
A smile finally crept across Zeke's face as he nodded. “Don't go, then. It's far too dangerous outside. Who knows
what your enemy might do if you step out now?”
Upon hearing that, Bailey had a sudden light-bulb moment.
Oh, that's right! If I left the medical base to follow Waverly, that person in the dark might take immediate action,
and I wouldn't have to sit around and wait any longer. Also, if Artemis really is faking his memory loss to lure that
person out, wouldn't it be great if I could get rid of the threat once and for all? That way, he can drop the act and
reunite with me! It's been so long since I last saw him. I miss him so much...
Thankfully, Zeke saw right through Bailey and angrily flicked a finger against her forehead.
“Stop having those nonsensical thoughts. At a critical time like this, no one in their right mind will let you leave the
medical base. You can forget about it!”
