Chapter 536
Huntley's expression stiffened, and he got to his feet slowly before narrowing his eyes at Juliana.
“Ms. Juliana, there are some things you should never joke about, for they'll bring you to ruin.”
Juliana swung her feet, and in turn, the swing she was on swayed with her movements.
“How do you know I was joking? Since you've found out that I've fallen for Zeke, you should know that anything's possible. It's not that weird for me to have had sex with him.”
To that, Huntley chuckled softly and said, “If you really had slept with him, you two wouldn't have subjected yourself to the mercy of fate like this, given how your temperaments are. Now that news of Ms. Gourd's pregnancy has spread throughout Hallsbay, it just proves that Zeke doesn't care about you at all. Ms. Juliana, you should stop lying to yourself. That man doesn't belong to you.”
Juliana jumped off the swing and strode toward Huntley. Sneering, she said, “If he doesn't belong to me, who does belong to me, then? You?”
Huntley reached out and wrapped an arm around her waist before flashing her a faint smile. “I could indeed become yours. All of me, from my body to my heart, can be yours.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAs he spoke, he stretched out a slender and defined finger before gently brushing it across Juliana's delicate lips, his movement sensual and ambiguous.
Juliana struggled against his touch for a moment, and when she realized that it didn't deter him, she growled, “Huntley, how dare you touch me! Are you trying to rebel?”
“Don't forget that we're now engaged, Ms. Juliana. It's only natural that I can't resist touching you, for the love I have for you is overflowing. Even if this gets out, people will only say that we're a young couple madly in love.”
Infuriated, Juliana grabbed his collar and gritted out, “Listen here, Huntley. You can take this as an official declaration of war. I'm going to take back everything that belongs to me.”
Huntley chuckled lightly. “Then I hope you can keep your wits about you, Ms. Juliana. Stop feeling sad over a man who's not worth it.”
“Of course.”
Meanwhile, in the guest room of the Shurmer residence, Steven, Waverly, Richard, and Genevieve could be seen surrounding a bed with joy on their faces.
Waverly held onto Shirley's hand and patted the back of her hand twice. Smiling, she said, “My dear child, you sure have a good constitution to be able to get pregnant after only doing it once with Zeke.”
After saying that, she turned to look at Genevieve, who was opposite her, and added, “Now that Shirley is carrying the Shurmer family's child, you can rest assured that we will protect her and not let her suffer any grievances.”
In response, Genevieve smiled, and with a hint of worry on her face, she sighed. “I'm sure the Shurmer family will treat Shirley well, and even if she's not your daughter-in-law, you will still spoil her as if she's one of your own. However, Zeke will be the one who will live with her for the rest of her life. If he doesn't marry her...”

“That won't happen.” Waverly raised her voice, her tone firm as she guaranteed, “Don't worry, Mrs. Gourd. When Zeke comes back later, I will talk to him about the marriage. Let's skip the engagement this time and prepare for the wedding straight away.”
An elated expression flashed across Genevieve's face.
All my hard work finally paid off! My daughter is finally marrying into the Shurmer family and becoming the matriarch of the family! With this, I won't have to pin my hopes on the Luther family anymore. With how prestigious that family is, I doubt I'd be able to get my daughter to marry into there anyway. Besides, Artemis still has other heirs, so it will never be my daughter's child's turn. Now that the Luther family is out of the picture, I can only depend on the Shurmer family. In any case, I must make sure my daughter stays with the most influential and powerful man. This way, I'll be respected as the mother-in-law of a bigshot.
With that thought in mind, she said, “You have no idea how relieved I am to hear that, Mrs. Shurmer.”
Waverly smiled. “Don't worry. Since Shirley is carrying our grandchild, it's a given that we'll make her a part of the family. After all, we don't want anyone saying that the child's an illegitimate child.”
Meanwhile, in the guest room of the Shurmer residence, Steven, Waverly, Richard, and Genevieve could be seen surrounding a bed with joy on their faces.
Just then, footsteps came from the door, and in walked Zeke.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSeeing that her son was home, Waverly beckoned him over. “Zeke, hurry up and comfort Shirley. She is now pregnant with your child and is the treasure of the Shurmer family.”
With an indifferent expression, Zeke walked toward the bed and trained his cold gaze on Shirley, his eyes flashing with an unfathomable look.
Waverly gave her son's arm a slap and chided, “Well, what are you waiting for? Are you so happy you're becoming a father that you're at a loss for words?”
Zeke looked away and swept a gaze across the elders before saying coolly, “I'd like to talk to Shirley alone.”
Hearing that, Waverly was stunned for a moment before flashing a smile, saying, “Sure. You two have a good talk, then. Your in-laws and I will head to the living room to discuss your marriage date.”
After everyone left, Zeke narrowed his eyes at Shirley and asked, “Are you going to keep the baby?”
At that, Shirley froze as the smile on her face gradually faded. Staring at him dazedly, she replied in a shaky voice, “W-What do you mean by that, Zeke? This is our first child together. What am I supposed to do if I don't keep it—abort it?”
“If possible, that is exactly what I want you to do.”
Shirley's eyes widened as she looked at him in disbelief. With tears welling up in her eyes, she spluttered, “W-What did you just say? Are you really going to abort this child? This child is your flesh and blood and also a member of the Shurmer family! Even a beast wouldn't harm its offspring, so how could you take away this child's right to live?”
Zeke narrowed his eyes slightly and said in an indifferent voice, “Shirley, you should know that I don't have any feelings for you. I have always regarded you as my sister. If I really had feelings for you, I would have married you a long time ago. I wouldn't have to wait until you're pregnant to be forced into marrying you.”
