Chapter 531
He failed to remove the bullet in Caridee when they were on the plane earlier.
That was because the bullet was stuck in her bone. A slight mistake could cause her arm to be
crippled.
Ding!
The emergency room door opened, and a young man walked out.
He was Zain Bryne, the best doctor in the Saviors.
“How did it go? Did you get the bullet out?”
Zain shook his head, looking extremely grim. “Her condition is terrible. Though it avoided the back of
her heart, it severely damaged her bones. Even if the bullet is removed, she is still going to face a great
predicament. She might not be able to exert any strength in her right arm. In other words, her arm is
crippled.”
Veikko's pupils instantly constricted. He grabbed Zain's arm and hissed, “Can't you save her arm?
You're the best doctor in the Saviors. She's a girl, and it's her right arm we're talking about here. How is
she going to carry on with her life if it's crippled? Her life will be ruined!”
Zain merely glanced at him with a twinkle in his eyes. “Don't worry. You can be responsible for her.
Marry her and take care of her for the rest of your life. I'm sure she'll say yes.”

“All right, all right. In all seriousness, this is the current situation. I've already explained everything to
you. The most important thing right now is the decision you make. In any case, this bullet has to be
removed. As for who's going to be responsible for her crippled arm, we have to make it clear. That
young lady is Bailey's sister-in-law. I can't bear the responsibility.”
Unwilling to give up, Veikko pursed his lips and asked, “Are you sure there's no hope for her arm?”
Zain shook his head. “There's a limit to my medical skills. I can't save her arm. As for Bailey, you can
ask her about it. After all, she's my mentor; her medical skills are better than mine. However, it'll take
her more than ten hours to rush over from Hallsbay. We can't let the bullet stay in Caridee's arm for so
long. It must be removed now.”
Veikko shut his eyes and spoke through gritted teeth. “Take it out, then. I'll bear the consequences if
anything happens.”
“Okay. Now that you've said that, I have free rein to remove the bullet. You'd better get yourself
mentally prepared. She became crippled to save you. You won't even be able to avoid it if the Luther
family wants you to take her hand in marriage.”
“Get lost.”
After watching Zain dash into the emergency room, Veikko pulled out his phone and dialed Bailey's
number.
The call was successfully connected, but it was not Bailey's voice that rang out of the phone speaker.
Instead, it was Artemis'.
“Veikko? How is everything in Yannopolis? Is Caridee all right?”
Veikko hesitated for a moment before asking, “Um... Could you pass the phone to Bailey? I have
something to report to her. Whether or not she wants to tell you about it has nothing to do with me.”
However, Artemis responded with a simple reply, “Bailey just had a miscarriage. She's resting now.”
Veikko froze momentarily. He was about to ask him about their situation, but a thought occurred to him,
which made him swallow his words. Moments later, he muttered through gritted teeth, “Your sister got
shot in her right arm, and the bullet injured her bone. That arm of hers might become crippled.”
There was a dead silence on the other end of the call.
Veikko could even feel the hostile aura emanating from Artemis through the phone.
“I-I'm sorry. She got hurt while saving me. Just tell me how I should compensate. I'll—”
Artemis interrupted, “If she's injured, then so be it. She should've considered the consequence before
following you to Yannopolis so ignorantly. She's an adult now. It's time she took responsibility for her
actions.”
Though he said that, he still asked, “Is she wounded in other parts of her body?”
“No. It's just her arm.”
“All right, then. Don't tell Bailey about it first. She just had her miscarriage and is feeling down. She

With that, Artemis hung up, leaving Veikko staring at the darkened phone screen with a bitter smile.
Do I have to marry Caridee, then?
Veikko had no plans to marry her. Hence, his only option was to find Caridee a doctor using his
connections to treat her arm.
Over at the Xuereb residence, Olivia was sitting on the couch in the living room and glowering at Justin,
who stood before the coffee table.
“You b*stard. What's the meaning of this? Are you trying to cut ties with me?”
With one hand in his pocket, Justin looked at his mother calmly and said, “If you can't take them in,
then there's no need to maintain this relationship between us.”
A loud smack rang out across the residence as Olivia slammed her hand on the table.
She then rose to her feet and pointed at him, fuming, “What's so great about that sickly woman? What
benefits can a person who's dying soon give you? Lettie is currently the top socialite and the precious
princess of her family. Do you know how influential you'll be once you marry her? Instead of marrying a
fine lady, you want to marry a woman who's dying soon. Is there something wrong with your brain?”
Justin smiled faintly. At the same time, sorrow fleeted across his eyes. “At the end of the day, you're
doing this to become in-laws with the Fletcher family so you can bring glory to your family. Don't forget;
you're still a member of the Xuereb family. You're Christopher's wife and my mother. Sure, your family's
important, but are they more important than your biological son?”
