Chapter 494
How dare he say that? He's Dad's biological son, and Dad raised him! How could he spew such
treachery?
“What are your conditions for agreeing to come back home?”
Victor looked around before snickering. “Give me back my life. Also, I want to be paroled. With the
above two conditions fulfilled, I will attend that old geezer's funeral.”
Victoria trembled while leaning in Lionel's arms. Her voice was shaking as she extended a finger to
point at Victor. “Y-Y-You're purposely making things difficult for me! I can't possibly grant you either of
these requests!”
“Fine then. Since you turned me down without hesitation, I see there's nothing else to be said. I shall
no longer be involved with the Saunders family. My well-being is none of your concern and vice versa.”
With that, he turned to leave.
Distraught, Victoria tried to go after him, but her legs gave out, and she fell back into Lionel's arms.
“You can't do this, Victor. A funeral must be held for the dead. Dad hadn't done anything bad, so we
can't l-let him...”
As she trailed off, she burst into tears.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtYet, Victor showed no hesitation and deftly arrived at the door within moments.
“Hold on.”
It was Lionel who spoke. He narrowed his eyes while staring at Victor's back before saying solemnly, “I
agree to both of your terms. I will transfer the Saunders family's shares to you and make sure that you
get out of here after you attend your father's funeral.”
Victoria raised her head to gawk at Lionel. “A-Are you really going to hand over all the shares? Is that
okay? You spent so much time plotting for it. Are you okay with giving them up for my father's sake?”
Lionel ignored her, his focus still on Victor. Arching his brow, he asked, “How does that sound? Do you
agree with that? I will transfer all of Saunders Group's shares to you, which gives you full rein over the
company by making you the largest shareholder.”
Victor narrowed his eyes as he studied Lionel. There was a hint of suspicion as he questioned, “Are
you really okay with transferring all the shares to me?”
“You don't need to question my intentions. Your sister is pregnant with my child, so you're my
daughter's uncle, which makes you one of the people closest to her. Besides, the shares had always
belonged to the Saunders family, and I was merely holding onto them for safekeeping. Therefore, I
would voluntarily hand it over if you want them.”
There was a momentary silence before Victor gritted his teeth. “Okay. I will trust you just this once.
You'd better not lie to me, or else I'll find an opportunity to dig the old man's body out of its grave even
after I attended the funeral.”
“You–” Enraged, Victoria raised her voice and was ready to retort him.
However, Lionel covered her mouth, stopping her from saying anything.
“Go sort through the administrative procedures with the warden. I'll send someone over to fetch you
this afternoon. I can fulfill your first condition today. As for the second one, give me some time to work
on it, and I can guarantee your early release.”
“Sure.”
Victor agreed to that and turned to leave the visiting room without even sparing Victoria a glance.
After seeing her brother off, Victoria began weeping again. “A few months in prison didn't put him back
on the right track. Instead, he seems even more menacing. Am I to watch on as a bystander as he
continues descending until reaching a point of no return?”
Lionel picked her up and cooed, “Everybody has their own destiny already written down in stone. Don't
overthink this. Let's go home for now. We've still got a lot of tasks awaiting us.”
Victoria stared at him. “Are you sure you're willing to part with the shares you hold?”
Lionel cast her a look before marching toward the exit. “I have assets all across the world and have
monopolized a third of the global entertainment industry. You can rest assured that I'm not after the

Victoria said nothing.
Veronique leaned against the headboard in the ward at the medical base.
She wore a wistful smile while looking at Bailey, who was standing by her bed. “Something is wrong
with my uterus, am I right?”
Knowing that she couldn't possibly hide the truth from Veronique, Bailey decided not to beat around the
bush.
After all, Veronique was one of the top medical specialists in the world. She could figure out if
something were wrong with her body.
“Yeah. There are tumors, but I haven't found out if they're cancerous. I came for an experiment to study
it. We can come up with a treatment plan after getting the results.”
Veronique nodded. “Sorry for the trouble. You shouldn't be running around when you're pregnant.”
Bailey leaned in to pat her face smilingly. “I'll cut ties with you if you say such nonsense again.”
Veronique didn't respond to that.
Holden was leaning against the couch in the study of his mansion with a glass of spirit in his hand.
Creak.
Wendy entered with a tray after opening the door.
“You haven't had dinner, so I brought you some soup.”
She walked up to the couch as she spoke, frowning subconsciously upon being greeted by the smell of
alcohol.
