Chapter 438
Bailey's face flushed red.
Bailey's face flushed red.
Here goes this scoundrel with his lewd jokes again. Should I thank you for all the love you show me in
bed? I don't need it at all. I always end up suffering every time you get excited.
Artemis nibbled at her earlobe, feeling an urge rising in his body.
Oh, no. It has only been a few days, and I already can't take it anymore.
Bailey slapped the man on his head to push him away, seething, “Your daughter is still here. I'm not
shameless like you.”
The next second, Susan's kiddish voice suddenly rang within the car. “I'm asleep, Mommy. I'm asleep.”
She even faked snoring right after to make it seem real.
Artemis, Bailey, and the children caused a stir when they arrived at the banquet hall in Century Hotel.
Seeing them, the city mayor went forward and greeted, “Mr. Luther, it's nice to see you here. I didn't
know Ms. Carr invited you too.”
Then, the man looked aside at Bailey with a wider smile on his face. “Ms. Jefferson! You've done so
much for the people. Our country needs more people like you. It's an honor to meet you.”
Bailey arched her brows at the compliments, smiling faintly. “Thank you, Mr. West. Actually, I think Mr.
Luther might be a lot happier if you could change how you address me. If he's in a good mood today,
he might donate a billion.”
Jacques West was initially perplexed, but he quickly wrapped his head around Bailey's statement and
said, “You're right. It must have been a slip of the tongue. You are 'Mrs. Luther' now, so I shouldn't call

“Why don't you call me 'Mr. Zayron,' then?” Zayron suddenly piped up from beside Bailey.
Bailey glared at him coldly, criticizing, “I'm going to stuff your mouth so you can keep quiet.”
Zayron ignored his mother and looked up at Jacques to continue the conversation. “Mr. West, I'm the
next in line to inherit Luther Group. Hallsbay's economic development will be in my hands, so are you
sure you don't want to call me ‘Mr. Zayron?’”
“What are you guys talking about, Father?”
A young woman dressed in a classy gown was seen walking over with a glass of wine.
When she beheld Artemis—the very man every woman in Hallsbay adored and wanted—a pink hue
spread across her cheeks.
“Here you are, Chloe. Let me introduce you to one of the most influential businessmen in Hallsbay.”
The way the young woman lowered her head shyly reminded the onlookers of a pure and beautiful
burgeoning Hibiscus, easily making her one of the most attractive ladies among the others in prominent
families.
However, Bailey disliked Chloe for the look in her eyes when she gazed at Artemis.
I am now an old hag before I even marry into the Luther family. I can't believe I have to deal with these
pretty-looking young women everywhere I go.
“Mr. Luther, this is my daughter, Chloe West.”
With that said, Jacques turned to his daughter as he continued, “Chloe, this is Artemis Luther from
Luther Group. I'm sure you will learn a lot from him.”
“N-Nice to meet you, Mr. Luther,” Chloe greeted timidly. “I just graduated from Central Chanaea
University of Science and Technology with a Master's degree and am preparing to apply for a position
in Luther Group. It's an honor meeting you.”
Artemis glanced at Jacques and said calmly, “Very well. Just go to the HR department and look for the
director. He will get you a suitable position.”
Chloe looked delighted at the news, for she did not expect Artemis to readily agree to letting her join
the company, and that made her feel like she was one step closer to her prince charming.
Yet, when Chloe's gaze fell on the woman beside Artemis and spotted the cold expression on her face,
she could not help but scoff.
What's with that face? She's so old I bet she will start growing wrinkles in two years. I doubt she'll be
able to satisfy someone like Artemis.
Given her keen sixth sense, Bailey felt a degree of antipathy from the young woman.
It was apparent that Chloe adored Artemis, so Bailey was sure that things would get messy if she were
allowed to work at Luther Group.
“Ms. West, with your background, I believe you can do far better than a local company. You see, the
person in charge of the branch in Archulea is my friend. If you're willing, I can always get you a position
abroad so that you could gain experience. What do you think?”
Puzzled, Artemis turned and looked at the woman next to him, but when he discerned the icy
expression on her face as well as her intentions, it dawned upon him that Bailey was jealous.
I swear I didn't lead that girl on. She's the one who has feelings for me. It's not something within my
control.
Yet, since Bailey had proposed the idea, Artemis would have to give her his full support.
“She's right. You can do better than just getting a mediocre position at Luther Group, Ms. West. Let's go
with Bailey's idea instead. She will get everything arranged for you to go abroad.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmChloe paled as she felt her heart sank.
She, along with those women in the upper echelon around her, had thought that Artemis married Bailey
only because she bore him three children, but what just happened had proved that that was not the
case, for it showed that Bailey had an important place in Artemis' heart.
Artemis probably just finds her interesting because he hasn't gotten bored of her. Right. That must be
the case.
With that thought in mind, Chloe looked at her father anxiously, sobbing. “Daddy, I don't want to leave
you all. I want to stay here.”
Since Chloe was his only daughter, it went without saying that Jacques did not want her to leave for
another country, so he turned down the offer politely. “It is very kind of you to offer, Mrs. Luther, but
Chloe has just graduated, so I think it will be good for her to start from the bottom at Luther Group. That
will be the best for her.”
Bailey raised her brows, smiling half-heartedly. “You're right. I have overlooked that. Proceed with the
original plan, then.”
Bailey Jefferson! I'll remember you. The first thing I'll do when I go to Luther Group will be to take away
what's yours. I'll get on Artemis' bed and let him get rid of you.
“Cosmetico's owner, Ms. Carr is here.”
“Oh! I didn't know she is Aplothian. She's a true Aplothian beauty.”
“Her every move exudes elegance.”
The crowd began discussing among themselves as everyone, including Bailey, cast their gazes at the
hall entrance.
Bailey was stunned when the graceful middle-aged woman made an entrance—not so much by her
beauty—but by the sense of familiarity she felt when she saw her face.
I feel like I've seen her before. Who is she? Why does she remind me of someone I know?
