Chapter 383
Sloan and Steven quickly stood up when they saw the two coming.
“Long time no see, Mr. Luther!” Steven said while extending his arm.
Artemis tightened his grip on Bailey's hand when he saw that.
“I thought you'd be hating my guts after I embarrassed your daughter in front of the journalists a few
days ago,” he said with an eyebrow arched after shaking Steven's hand.
Steven froze when he heard that, his brows furrowing slightly. For several seconds, he stared at
Artemis. Then, he smiled while saying, “You are now a married man with a happy family, Mr. Luther. It's
unfortunate that my daughter isn't that lucky, but some things can't be forced.”
As he shifted his gaze toward Bailey, his eyes went wide with shock.
Why does this girl look so much like my wife?
“Is this the legendary doctor, Anonymous?”
Bailey's body shuddered slightly before she inclined her head. “That's just a nickname I used in the
past. My real name is Bailey Jefferson. You can call me 'Bailey,' Mr. Shurmer.”
She then turned to look at Sloan as she continued, “I think I might be able to help out with the surgery.
At the very least, I should be able to increase Mr. Raiden's chances of survival by another twenty
percent.”
“In that case, please do lend a hand,” Sloan said.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBailey nodded and started making her way toward the emergency room.
Suddenly, Scarlett showed up in front of her and said, “My brother got shot over two hours ago! Why
are you only showing up now, Bailey? Who are you trying to put up an act for?”
“For a clown,” Bailey replied with a snicker.
“Who are you calling a clown?”
Bailey arched an eyebrow at Sloan and said, “Mr. Fletcher, it looks like your daughter wants to stop me
from saving your son's life. I suggest you keep an eye on her.”
Scarlett's face went pale as she stammered in a trembling voice, “N-No! T-That's not true, Dad!”
Steven spoke up before Sloan could say anything. “Ms. Fletcher, I believe your hostility toward Ms.
Jefferson is unfounded. She has invented a drug that could cure cancer, saving countless lives as a
result. There's hardly any reason for her to harbor ill intentions toward your brother.”
“I...”
“That's enough! I don't care who it is that assists with the surgery, as long as it will save Raiden's life.”
Bailey glanced at Steven in surprise.
She wasn't expecting him to defend her, especially since she was the main reason Zoey was now the
laughingstock of the world.
Before she could ponder the matter further, Sloan's voice rang in her ears again. “Please assist with
the surgery, Ms. Jefferson.”
“On it!”
After four hours, Raiden's condition was finally stabilized.
Veronique breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat off her forehead. Her voice sounded tired as
she said, “Thank goodness you made it here just in time. I probably wouldn't have been able to save
him on my own!”
There was a conflicted look in Bailey's eyes as she stared at Raiden.
We haven't known each other for long, and we've barely met a few times. Even so, he made a huge
sacrifice just to help me out. I don't know when he started developing such strong feelings for me, but I
really don't deserve his help like this...
“Bay?”
Veronique's voice snapped her out of her train of thought.
Bailey shook her head and flashed her a smile. “Don't worry about it. I'm just doing what I'm supposed
to. By the way, did you manage to get Scarlett to sign the agreement?”
“Of course! Zephyr's life depends on it, after all.”
“That's good to hear. Have her deliver her end of the bargain once Raiden wakes up. We need to get
this matter over with as soon as possible.”
“Yeah.”
Meanwhile, Micah knocked on the door of a rental unit in the countryside.
The door slowly opened about a minute later, and Shannon appeared before him with a knife in hand.
Micah swept his gaze across her face before suddenly taking two steps forward.

Blood immediately started flowing as the knife punctured his body.
Hatred filled up Shannon's eyes as she slowly lost her calm.
Without even thinking about it, she stepped forward and pushed the knife deeper into Micah's body.
The bright red blood dripping down the knife formed a hauntingly beautiful pattern on the marble tiles
below.
After so many years, the possibility of reconciliation was long gone.
Hatred was the only thing keeping Shannon going in life.
As she thought about her lost arm and the tragic death of her child, Shannon exploded with anger and
yanked the knife out as forcefully as possible.
Seconds after raising her arm high above her head, she brought it down on his chest, sticking the blade
in between his ribs.
Micah groaned in pain, but he didn't even bother to look at the bleeding wound on his chest.
Instead, he reached out to caress Shannon's cheek, which was contorted in rage and hatred, as he
said, “I wasn't planning on explaining myself because I am indeed the one at fault. However, I've
changed my mind now that I've seen the agony you're in. So, I'm going to explain to you what really
happened.”
Shannon simply kept quiet and glared coldly at him with sheer loathing in her eyes.
“Shanny, I didn't send those men to kill you and our child. I wouldn't have left you if I knew you were
pregnant.”
