Chapter 0299
1 looked back at Mica and Jeremy who were talking among themselves. The chosen judges sat in the front,
talking amongst themselves. Most of the audience went to greet the ones they were there to support. Nan was
frowning in the direction Judy had gone while a guy spoke her ear from beside her. | didn’t recognize the guy, but
had his hand on Nan’s leg and my brows furrowed at the sight.
She never tookfor someone who would hook up with a guy she just met. From the way he was touching her
and his close proximity, I'd say they definitely hooked up.
“If you'll excuse me,” | said to the other Lycans before | took off in the direction Judy had gone.
| found her crouching behind a tree; she was completely naked and covering her body with her arms.
| walked around the tree, startling her.
Are you hurt?” | asked her, kneeling in front of her. Her face was pale, and she had little blood on her lip, along
with sbruising on the uses of her body. My chest tightened at the sight, and | had an urge to attack whoever
did this to her. An urge | suppressed immediately.
“I'm okay,” she said softly. “You should see the other guy.” She laughed lightly and the sound was oddly musical.
“I did,” I told her. “You did great out there.”

Her cheeks flushed and her eyes lit up.
“Really?” She asked.
| nodded. | reached into the bag | was carrying and pulled out one of my shirts. | keep it in there just in case, but
| was glad to have it so Judy could change.
When she saw it, a smile lit up her face.
“Thank you,” she said, taking the shirt fromand quickly pulling it on over her head. It went down to her
knees, which was perfect.
She leaned against the tree, exhaustion taking over her.
“I'm so tired,” she whispered.
| leaned against the other side of the tree.
“It's protocol to see the medic after a match,” | told her. “Every one of you needs to have an exam before they
can clear you to the next round.”
She sighed.
“Yeah, | remember they toldthat during the introductory banquet,” she told me. “Can’t | just sleep for a little
bit? Shifting took a lot out of me.”
I let out a small laugh; it sounded foreign on my lips.
“I like that,” | heard her whisper.
| turned and tilted so | was looking at her from the other side of the tree. Her eyes were closed, but she had a
soft smile on her lips. | was so close to her that if | moved another inch, my mouth would be touching her cheek.
“Like what?” | asked.
Her eyes opened, not expecting that | was so close to her. She could feel my breath brushing across her cheek
and
it made her nose and cheeks turn pink.
“The sound of you laughing,” she replied, turning her head to look at me. “I don’t hear it often. It's nice when |
do.”
I looked into her eyes, a smile twitching at the corner of my mouth as | lifted my hand up and brushed a strand
of sweat-soaked hair out of her face. | tucked the hair behind her ear, and | couldn't help but notice her leaning

the touch.
| allowed my fingers to rest on her cheek for a moment and then | used my thumb to softly caress her bottom lip,
which she parted slightly.
no sex,
There were no words said between us; this was a different type of intimacy than | was used to. There was n no
cuddling... just breathing in each other's energy.
I let my lips brush across hers gently, my tongue slipping into her mouth just a little. Her eyes started to drift
shut as | ran my fingers through her hair and deepened the kiss.
“Gavin...” she whispered hoarsely.
| kissed the corner of her chin and ran my lips down the nape of her neck. Goosebumps formed all across her
flesh and she trembled as | ran my fingers up her back beneath her shirt.
Just as | started to lift up her shirt, a twig snapped, makingjump apart so fast it could have started a fire.
Then, a voice sounded from nearby.
“Judy, are you out here still?”
