Chapter 920
Gabriel pulled Evelyn's hand while looking at Nicole apologetically. "Nicole, I'm sorry. Evelyn doesn't mean that."
Nicole looked at him emotionlessly and gave a vague response before looking down, saying, "The guests outside
might be worried after waiting for so long. I'll head out first."
Meanwhile, he grabbed the furious Evelyn and informed Nicole, "The guests have arrived, and Colton is waiting for
you outside. You should hurry up."
After nodding, Nicole walked out.
Evelyn was so angry that her chest felt stuffy. Then, she got out of Gabriel's grip and looked at him with bloodshot
eyes, questioning, "Gabriel, how could you stand on that woman's side?"
Looking at his almost hopeless younger sister, Gabriel sighed softly and reasoned, "Evelyn, there are guests

"I'm not!" Evelyn immediately rebuked as her eyes and cheeks turned red, and her tears began to fall. While biting
her lips, she sniffled and whimpered. "Have you sided with Nicole too? You don't care about me! It's because I'm not
your real sister, isn't it?"
He looked at her sobbing and hesitated before softly comforting her, "Evelyn, that's not what I meant. It's a special
situation, so you shouldn't be throwing a tantrum."
"I won't listen. I don't want to hear any excuses. I only know that all of you see me as an outsider. Be it Mom or Dad,
all of you think I'm an outsider. They've only acknowledged Nicole as their daughter for a few days, yet they're
already siding with her!" Evelyn yelled. It felt like she had gone mad, and her eyes were filled with rage.
When Gabriel saw how she was behaving, he grabbed her wrist and tried to calm her down. "Evelyn, Mom and Dad
don't see you as an outsider. You're the one who did something wrong and caused all of this, so stop trying to make
things worse."
She laughed while tears were flowing quickly from her eyes. Feeling like she was about to lose her breath from all
the laughing, she wiped her tears away and closed her eyes tiredly.
"Gabriel, I know that I'm William Anderson's daughter. Mom and Dad still see me as their daughter only because
they have raised me for more than twenty years. If the Wrenns disapprove of me, I'll only be an embarrassment
wherever I go. It's that simple."
While looking at Evelyn's current appearance, Gabriel felt distressed and caressed Evelyn's cheeks, using the pad of
his thumb to wipe away her tears.
He patted her shoulders and assured her, "Well, you don't have to worry about anything, Evelyn. I'm here, and I'll
protect you."
Hearing that, Evelyn broke down and threw herself into Gabriel's arms before crying. "Gabriel, I just want Colton,
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmthat's all. I… Hic… I just want him."
Gabriel patted her while softly agreeing, "There, there. I know. I've always known that."
…
When Nicole came out of the room, Colton was already waiting for her by the entrance. He watched as she rushed
over and asked, "Why did you come out so late? Did something happen?"
While giving him a slight glance, she teased, "Your admirer was here, and she almost tore me apart. Although we're
getting 'engaged,' I hope no one comes to disturb my life, so you'd better watch yourself."
Colton raised his eyebrow slightly and revealed a smug smile while casually saying, "My apologies, but there's no
solution. After all, I am quite attractive."
"How shameless," Nicole reprimanded softly.
The two were linking arms, so they were standing very close, which meant Colton heard Nicole's words even though
she spoke very softly. However, he didn't mind. Instead, he smiled and walked in front with his head held high.
