Chapter 858 Lincoln glanced at his daughter's tear-streaked, pale cheeks, and his resolve melted away in an instant.
"Vivian, don't worry. Nathan hasn't gone far. He's just over at the neighbor's." Nathalie's sobs softened into quiet whimpers. "Really?" Lincoln nodded, albeit reluctantly. "Yes, really. Ashley cto fetch him." Nathalie's sadness eased, and she exhaled with relief.
"I'll go get him back." She wobbled a bit as she got to her feet.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLincoln, concerned that Morris might spill the beans about his less-than-stellar actions to Nathalie, quickly intervened. "Vivian, you should take it easy. Let Dad go and bring him home." Lizzy stifled a giggle and muttered under her breath, "Uncle, looks like your plan backfired." At the Stewart Estate, the main house...
When Lincoln showed up at the Stewart family's main house, Regan was taken aback.
Since the secondary branch had taken the reins of Stewart Enterprises, the main branch was like weeds clinging to a crack, almost reduced to ordinary folks. Despite living next door to each other, the brothers might as well have been separated by oceans, with no contact at all.
"What are you doing here?" Regan asked, not bothering to hide his annoyance.
Lincoln closed his umbrella and walked into the main house as if it were still his childhood home.
He looked around. The ssimple mahogany furniture stood unchanged, and memories of sitting at his grandparents' feet flooded back.
Lincoln was overcwith emotion. "If Grandpa and Grandma were still with us, seeing us tear each other apart over the Stewart family's fortune, it would break their hearts." Regan shot back, "You guys in the secondary branch got all the benefits. Who are you to call us out? Grandpa favored your dad because he was smart, always top of his class, bringing him loads of pride. I wasn't good at school, and he looked down onfor that, secretly handing the company over to your dad." He grew more agitated. "We're both his sons, so why was I pushed aside?" Lincoln gave him a sardonic look. "You di talk about fairness? Then why did you hand the company to Dean's illegitimate son, Michael, instead of your own granddaughter, Ashley?" Regan was left speechless.
Lincoln continued, "Grandpa gave the company to my dad but made sure you had enough assets to live comfortably. He ensured the company and its employees could keep going strong. That was his wisest move." Regan's face clouded over.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmLincoln said, "Even I, as a junior, can see Grandpa's intentions. Can't you, as his son, see it? Can't you feel his love?" His words brought tears to Regan's eyes.
"What are you here for?" he asked.
Lincoln replied, "I'm here to take Nathan." The teacup in Regan's hand slipped and shattered on the floor.
"Who?"
Lincoln frowned. "You mean you don't know? Ashley brought Nathan back here?
Regan's gloomy face suddenly brightened with a smug grin. "Nathan is our esteemed guest. He's visiting us, and you're here to snatch him away? Isn't that a bit rude?"
Lincoln was puzzled. "Esteemed m guest? Do you know about his background and past?" He was on the verge of spilling that Nathan was a criminal.
Regan said, "Of course I know. After all, he's Ashley's fiancé."
