Chapter 728 Greta lay on the cold ground, eyes fixed on Cameron as he sprinted away, leaving her behind. Nina clung to Cameron's neck, flashing a wicked, almost sinister smile at Greta. It was a smile far too knowing and triumphant for a child.

"Mom, did you see that?" Greta asked, her voice tinged with disbelief.

"See what?" her mother, Miranda, replied, her attention fully on Greta until she heard her daughter's words. "Nina was smiling," Greta said, an uneasy chill running through her.

Miranda looked up, but by then, Nina and Cameron had vanished through the door. "Greta, they're gone," she said, her tears soaking through her blouse. "How could Cameron be so heartless? Leaving you here when you're much sicker than Nina?" She maneuvered Greta's wheelchair closer, straining to help her up. But Greta, weakened by illness and the weight of Lincoln's revenge, collapsed back to the ground. Her ankle, peeking from beneath her dress, was swollen and shiny.

Miranda's hands trembled as she pressed gently on it, watching a deep indentation form. She broke into sobs, "What are we going to do?" "Greta, are you in pain?" she asked, her voice breaking.

Greta was indeed in pain. Her body was swollen, she couldn't pass urine, and felt utterly drained. She t felt like she was about to burst, desperate for relief. She pounded the ground in agony, "So what if I'm in pain? Can you even pay for my treatment?" "Being your daughter is a tragedy. You couldn't support me, so you leftwith Dad. What does he know about taking care of me? I grew up eating junk food, and he never stopped me. My kidney problems are all your fault. All your fault." Miranda shook with grief, "I thought your father would take care of you with all the child support I sent. But he was so careless..." "Ha. Mr. Lincoln gave you so much money, but did you ever take care of Nathalie? Greta scoffed. "You wasted all of Nathalie's support net' money on Dad, the gambler. Even if you didn't save sfor yourself, you should have ensured at least a basic living for us. Now, can't even afford a doctor. You're not fit to be a mother." "Nathalie and I must have drawn the short straw with you as our mom," Greta spat, her words laced with anger.

Miranda stared at her in disbelief.

She had poured all her love into Greta, only to be met with such bitterness. She felt like a failure, A complete failure. But the bond of mether and daughter couldn't be broken. She forgave Greta's harshness, and through her tears, said, "Greta, enough. I'll find a way to get you to the hospital." Miranda went outside, trying to flag down a taxi. Eventually, a kind driver agreed to take them to the hospital. But when they arrived, Miranda realized she had no money to pay the fare.

The driver was furious, blocking their path: "You live in a mansion, surely you're not broke. I helped you get to the hospital, and now you're stiffingon the fare. How can you do this?"

Onlookers began to murmur about Greta. "The fare isn't even. broken that much.

No way they're broke. They're just trying to dodge the bill." mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliIofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1
