Chapter 143
After all, Starry Gemworks would eliminate 80% of its applicants during its screening process.
This meant that Bailee would bypass that competition, landing directly in the top 20% who moved on to
interviews. Consequently, her chances of being accepted would significantly increase.
However, Bailee frowned in dissatisfaction. "So, I still have to compete with others in the interview?"
After a pout, she added, "Can't you ask your friend's dad to just hiredirectly?"

Yvonne was at a loss for words. Her friend's father was a senior executive at Starry Gemworks, not the president.
Moreover, Starry Gemworks had strict requirements for designers. Even the president couldn't simply place an
unqualified designer into an old position.
When Bailee noticed Yvonne's reaction, her expression turned contemptuous. "What now? Are you tellingyou
can't handle this? If your friend's dad can't manage something so small, he probably isn't very high up, is he?"
Yvonne's eyes flashed with anger, but before she could respond, Diana intervened. "How can you say that,
Bailee? Yvonne is trying to help you, and this is how you talk to her?"
Diana had hoped Bailee would show sgratitude after Yvonne's assistance, but instead, Bailee mocked the
usefulness of Yvonne's connections. This was too much.
Bailee huffed disdainfully. "Am | wrong, Aunt Diana? I'm just stating the facts. Even if we're trying to use
connections, we should find a reliable one."
Eleanor nodded in agreement and added, "That's right. Diana, Yvonne might mean well, but she's young and
doesn't have much influence. You should find a solution yourself."
"Find a solution? What can | do?" Diana snapped. "Harold and | only run a 'tiny' company. How could we possibly
have connections with high-level figures?"
Diana was already upset by Eleanor's previous comment about Henderson Group being a tiny company. Now,
with Bailee's picky attitude after Yvonne's attempt to help, Diana's patience wore thin.

"No, Diana." Eleanor either didn't pick up on or pretended not to hear Diana's implied resentment.
She countered, "Your company might be small, but you still meet many people. According to that... what's it
called, the 'six degrees of separation’ theory, you must have connections with the Hansen family."
"Pull the strings yourselves then! | can't help you with it!" Diana had always had a short temper, and she had
long harbored grievances against Eleanor's family.
Previously, she had overlooked these issues for the sake of their sisterly bond. But now, seeing that they still
took it as a matter of course for the Henderson family to help them out, Diana could no longer tolerate it.
Just then, Yolanda spoke up. "I know the general manager of Starry Gemworks. If Bailee really wants to work
there, | can arrange it."
