Chapter 748 It was the weekend, and a rare day off. The sky was clear, the clouds were light, and the sun shone down on the earth. Starting at 7:00 am, the kindergarten saw a steady flow of parents arriving with their children.

Even though it was a rest day, Nadine was up bright and early. She put on light makeup, slipped into comfortable sneakers, and wore sporty attire as she took Sean's hand and headed to the kindergarten.

Sean was dressed in sportswear like his mother and had a bright smile on his face. However, when he noticed that other kids were arriving with both their parents, he couldn't help but glance toward the entrance. When he didn't see the person he was looking for, he pouted a little and took Nadine's hand, leading her toward his classroom.

Since it was a family event, almost all the kids cwith both their parents. The kindergarten had opened up the large playground for the occasion, dividing it into sections marked for each class. The signs were clear, indicating where each group should sit.

Nadine followed the signs and brought Sean to their designated spot. When she noticed there were three tiny chairs, she couldn't help but tug at the corner of her lips. Those chairs were so small. She doubted any man could sit in them! Nadine instinctively glanced over at the other families and noticed that many of the men were standing instead of sitting. The chairs were just too small- impossible for anyone even slightly broad-shouldered to sit comfortably. Several men-the thinner ones-did manage to squeeze onto the seats to keep their kids entertained.

Nadine glanced at the empty chair and let out a long sigh of relief. She had suspected that Brad was too busy with work to make it. Sebastian had suggested he calong and pretend to be Sean's dad, but Nadine had turned him down. There was no reason for that since he wasn't Sean's father. Besides, she and Sebastian were just friends, good ones at best. Nadine didn't have any romantic feelings for him and didn't want him pretending to be Sean's dad.

After settling into the tiny chairs, Sean asked Nadine with a hint of disappointment, "Mommy, didn't you say Daddy would be here?" Nadine had told Sean that she and Brad were no longer together and that he was her child alone. She'd explained that if Brad wanted to see him, she would arrange it, but they wouldn't be together at the stime, and he needed to cto terms with that.

Sean hadn't said much at the time, but it was clear he felt disappointed. Nadine had wanted to comfort him then, but she ultimately chose to stay silent.

This was just how life worked. One needed to lose something to gain something. Everyone had to face their struggles alone at spoint.

Sean was her son, and she'd shower him with love. He would be happy, even without his father.

Nadine pulled out a tissue and wiped the water from the corner of his mouth. "He's busy with work, so it's perfectly normal if he can't come. I told you, just because he said he would cdoesn't mean he can. Don't expect too much from him, okay? No matter what, I'lbalways be here with you, alright?" Most of the other kids had their dads with them, but Sean didn't. When she noticed the longing in his eyes as he watched the other children, her heart ached. Howt she had to bite her lip and swallow her sadness.

Sean pondered for a moment before flashing Nadine a radiant smile. "Whatever you say goes, Mommy!" He was used to living without his dad. He wanted his father to cbecause all the other kids had theirs, and he was worried that the other kids would tease him for being the odd one out.

After that fight with his classmate, his longing for his dad had lessened. If his father didn't show up when he needed him, what was the point of him being around at all? He clenched his fists and started playing a gwith Keira, who was sitting next to him. Soon, the teacher in charge of maintaining order walked over and said, "Corne

everyone please sit on the chairs with their names on them? Our

event is about to start. I'll be calling names, and when yours is called, please stand up."

The teacher started roll call, and when she called Sean's name, she' e glanced over at Nadine. "Are Sean's parents here?"
