Chapter 94 Selena's concerned expressions stirred nothing within me.

It seemed like her care was merely a duty she fulfilled as a wife.

Realizing this, a sudden chill ran through me. I hadn't expected to feel this way, ever.

Not long after Selena arrived, I heard footsteps approaching. Soon, Zion appeared at the door. He looked out of breath and visibly anxious.

He rushed over, grabbing Selena's arm and looking at her intently. "Selena, are you okay? Hudson didn't hurt you, did he? Are you hurt? What happened?" Selena looked a bit confused but quickly pulled herself together, freeing herself from Zion's grip as she turned to me.

"I'm fine. Hudson's the one who's in trouble. I'm going to find the doctor. Stop bothering me." The sadness in Zion's eyes was obvious, but Selena ignored it completely.

It was true that when one loved someone who didn't love them back, those people would never truly care about how one felt. This type of love was painful for both Zion and Selena.

After Selena left, I didn't say anything.

I felt exhausted. There was nothing to say. What could words accomplish? Nothing would change. What had happened couldn't be undone.

As I watched Selena walk away, Zion ran his hands through his hair. There was frustration on his face.

I couldn't tell what he was upset about, but his anger was clear when, a moment later, he started shouting at me.

"Hudson, I don't get you! Selena cares so much for you. She does everything to make you happy! That's something I've always wanted but never had! Yet you're ungrateful enough to end up in a hospital! What's wrong with you?" I didn't know how long Zion ranted. I wasn't wearing a watch and had no sense of time.

He kept mumbling.

Eventually, he seemed to have tired himself out. He stopped, his chest heaving. Then he just stared atwith a look of confusion before quietly asking, "Hudson, what's wrong with you?" What was wrong? What could possibly be wrong? Wasn't I alive and well? Selena returned with the doctor. Oddly, she didn't seem to mind discussing everything openly. She and the doctor talked as if I weren't even there.

When I heard the doctor mention depression, I didn't feel alarmed.

Depression. A few people at my workplace dealt with it. Actually, anyone who had seen the darker sides of this world probably had sform of it. If it was so common, why worry? "Just try to be considerate of the patient's feelings and avoid upsetting him. Right now, it's important to help him stabilize emotionally. Try watching comedies with him, reminiscing about good memories. It'll help him recover faster." The doctor spoke to both of them.

I didn't pay attention to their reactions.

It didn't matter to me. As long as I didn't want to leave this world yet, I'd be fine. Though, there had been times I seriously considered it.

Turning toward the window, I saw the m sun high in the sky, lighting up the world outside. It was probably 10:00 am already.

I got out of bed and headed to the door, only for both of them to block my way Selena Tooked atcautiously. "Hud, where are you off to this early?" Where? I didn't know. But as I looked down the empty hallway, a thought surfaced.

Anywhere but here. I didn't want to stay in this hospital.
