Chapter 62 "How did you find out about this?" Sylvia frowned, clearly caught off guard.

Looking at the expression on her face, it was obvious that she had no intention of telling me.

Realizing this madefeel angry, though I wasn't even sure why I felt that way.

"Why? Wasn't staying in Carzonia good enough?" I questioned her, looking her directly in the eyes.

She sat down, slowly wiping her damp hair as she began to explain.

"I just thought Adenville has a better economy and more opportunities. Working at the headquarters means faster promotion, and my salary will be higher." Her reasoning was solid, but something still felt off to me.

Either way, my main task now was to persuade her to go back. If she was willing to return to Carzonia, I could use my current position, and even with Zion's help, to transfer her within the company.

"But if you're working here in Adenville and I finish my project and return to Carzonia, we'll be living far apart. A train ride will take hours. We'll end up in a long-distance relationship." It had only been a month since we started doing long-distance.

In this one month, we've hardly spoken. I knew nothing about her daily life, and it was unsettling. I couldn't imagine how we would manage if this separation continued indefinitely.

I was upset, but Sylvia seemed unbothered.

She put down the towel, smiled at me, and shrugged.

"Relax. I already paid two months' rent for your place, so your things can still be put there for two months. Plus, if you want, you can apply to stay here in Adenville. You used to work here, after all. If you requested to cback, they would probably approve it." I glanced at my phone. Our last conversations were those few short video calls. Besides that, we didn't have any real communication. I realized Sylvia hadn't discussed any of this with me.

The thought madeeven angrier.

"Why didn't you at least talk toabout these things?" I asked, barely holding back my frustration.

She looked atwith genuine confusion. "This is my business. As long as I have it sorted, why do I need to discuss it with you?" "Did you discuss it withbefore you left Adenville? You left without a word. You didn't even leave a message," she shot back.

I didn't know Sylvia was still thinking about that incident. I thought she had gotten over it.

"You didn't tella single thing about coming to Adenville. I called you so many times, and you didn't answer if it weren't for the fact that you finally called back before the 72-hour limit to file a report, I was ready to report you missing to the police."

"And now, here you are, lecturingabout not discussing the transfer with you, as if you consultedwhen you took on this project in Adenville," she added, her voice m becoming louder. It was clear that she was not happy aboutcoming to Adenville.

"Sylvia, I know I should have talked to you before coming here. But you have to believe me. It wasn't by choice. I had no other option."

I wanted so badly to tell her the truth, to explain it wasn't that I didn't want to tell her about coming to Adenville, of that didn't answer her calls on purpose. It was because, at that time, I simply couldn't.
