Chapter 122:

All of a sudden, seeing the pile of toys, Stella felt a wave of frustration.

Ever since she returned and reconnected with Tristan, she thought she had made it clear to him. She had already

refused his gestures of kindness, so why was he still doing all of this?

First, he had gotten close to her grandmother, and it nearly ended in a life-and-death conflict with RK.

Now, after winning over her grandmother, he had moved on to charming her son, Adrian. It felt like he was trying

to win over her entire family.

No matter how annoyed she was, Stella couldn't throw a fit, especially since Tristan wasn’t even here at the

moment.

“Stella, Tristan is so good to Adrian!” Emily chimed in, picking up one of the toys from the pile. “Just look at this!

One random toy here costs as much as a month of your salary!”

Stella didn’t need to be told. She could tell from a glance that the prices were outrageous.

In the past, whenever she took Adrian to the mall, she had always checked out the toy section. But most of the

toys Adrian liked had prices in the thousands, far more than she could afford.

Sometimes, she would treat him to something special on his birthday or during the holidays, but buying toys like

these was out of the question.

For Tristan, however, it seemed like a minor expense. The cost of these toys likely wasn't even close to what he

earned from a single surgery. But for Stella, accepting them meant she owed him something—a big favor.

What made it worse was that the total cost of these toys likely exceeded her annual salary.

For years, Stella had been trying to keep her distance from Tristan, knowing there was no future for them. She

didn’t want him to waste his tor energy on her.

Seeing how much money and effort Tristan had spent on her and Adrian, she felt guilty. It wasn’t just about the

toys.

Tristan had been taking care of her since she was young, yet she felt she had only caused him harm.

He had already faced disappointment once, six years ago. She didn’t want history to repeat itself.

“Emily, please helpfigure out how to return these toys. Or maybe you can helpsell them,” Stella said.

It wasn’t that she disliked the toys, but she couldn't accept them.

The relationship between her and Tristan hadn’t reached the point where he should be showering her son with

such expensive gifts.

Emily was shocked. “What? You want to return them? How is that even possible?”

“You should know these toys were a gift from Tristan for Adrian! Can you imagine how sad he'd be if he found out

you returned them?” Emily was clearly feeling sorry for Tristan.

Stella was speechless.

Was Emily working for Tristan? She was supposed to be her friend, so why was she always siding with him?

Especially lately, it seemed like Emily couldn't stop talking about how great Tristan was. It was almost as if she

wanted them to get together as soon as possible.

“Yes, | want to return them or sell them,” Stella said firmly. She was determined to convert these toys into money

and return it to Tristan.

There was no way she could afford to buy Adrian toys worth more than $10,000. The only option was to turn

them into cash and pay him back.

“Stella, | don’t think this is the right thing to do,” Emily said, shaking her head. “These were Tristan’s good

intentions, after all.”

“I understand that,” Stella replied, “but his good intentions are too much forto handle. | can’t accept them.”

She feared that if she accepted these gifts once, more would follow. Eventually, she wouldn't be able to explain

herself, no matter what.

Although Emily didn’t agree, she knew Stella wouldn't back down. As her friend, she had no choice but to help.

“I'm not sure if | can return them, though,” Emily said, “especially since | don’t have any receipts. As for selling

them... | don’t know any rich people who would be willing to buy a bunch of toys. But I'll ask around and see if

anyone's interested.”

“Okay, thanks,” Stella said, nodding in agreement.
