Chapter 121:
“There's no need!” Stella quickly grabbed the bag of medicine from Tristan’s hand.
“It's getting late, Tristan. You should go back. You still have to work tomorrow. I'll ask Emily to helpapply the
medicine later,” she said, trying to make it clear that his presence was no longer needed.
She shot a pleading look at Emily, hoping her friend would take the hint and cooperate.
But Emily had no intention of helping. She stretched lazily and said with a fake yawn, “Oh, | have work tomorrow
too.
I've been worried about you all day, Stella. I'm so tired. I'll go to bed now. I'll leave the medicine thing to you and
Mr. Davis...”
“Emily...” Stella grabbed her friend's hand, trying to prevent her from escaping. How could Emily be this
shameless? If she had just called the police earlier, none of this would have happened!
As Adrian’s godmother and her best friend, how hard could it be to help apply smedicine? Stella could see
right through her—she was setting her up with Tristan on purpose!
“Emily, if you don’t helpapply this medicine, I'm not putting it on tonight!” Stella said, trying to guilt her
friend into staying.
The two of them exchanged exaggerated winks and silent glares, but Emily wasn’t budging.
In the end, it was Tristan who broke the standoff. “In that case, I'll leave. Miss Emily, I'll leave Stella in your
capable hands.”

He gave Stella one last glance, and with a sense of finality, turned to go. Tristan would never force her into
anything, no matter what.
Emily, now that Tristan had spoken, didn’t protest further. She nodded. “Alright.”
Stella rolled her eyes. As her best friend, Emily should've been on her side from the start!
Yet here she was, agreeing to help the moment Tristan asked, but when Stella needed her, she claimed to be
sleepy! If Tristan hadn't been here, Stella would've punched her in frustration!

Once Tristan left, Stella sat quietly on the sofa, feeling annoyed. Meanwhile, Emily, ever the busybody, took on
the role of sending Tristan off, acting more like his mother than her friend.
As soon as Emily returned, she said with a teasing tone, “Stella, why didn’t you go send off your Tristan?
He went all the way to the Starlight Nightclub to save you, then took you to the hospital, brought you home...
and took care of you the entire time! You couldn't even say goodbye properly?”
Emily's tone was that of a lecturing mother, as though she was trying to convince Stella to see what a great guy
Tristan was.
She had always worried about Stella's love life, and now that there was someone as good as Tristan in front of
her, Emily couldn't stand the thought of Stella letting the opportunity slip away.
“Stella, it’s rare to find a good man like this.
Don’t miss out! Otherwise, if you keep waiting, it'll take forever to find a boyfriend at your pace!” Emily said,
sounding more eager to find a man than Stella herself.
Stella was used to Emily’s enthusiasm about her love life. After all, Emily had been putting off her own romantic
pursuits for years, always saying she wouldn't get married until Stella did. She even planned to be her
bridesmaid first.
As close friends, they had always looked out for each other, but while Emily was always pushing Stella toward
marriage, Stella herself had grown calmer about the topic.
It wasn’t that Stella hadn't tried—she had gone on plenty of blind dates, but the success rate had always been
dismal.
Whenever her potential suitors found out about her past, they'd disappear.
Those who stuck around often had difficult situations of their own, and while Stella didn’t judge them, she knew
it would be nearly impossible to find a man who could love Adrian as his own.
That's why, over time, her large pool of potential suitors had dwindled down to a handful, and she had become
more cautious.
“Emily, you don’t need to worry about me,” Stella said with a sigh. “Marriage is a big decision. It's not something
to rush. If I end up alone for the rest of my life, I'll have Adrian with me. At least | won't be completely alone.”
Though Stella spoke lightly, it was her way of accepting the worst possible outcome.
But for Adrian's sake, she still hoped to find a partner who could be a father figure to her son. She didn’t want
Adrian to grow up without a father, but she knew how hard that dream was to achieve.
Emily let out a heavy sigh. “Even if you don’t think about yourself, at least think about Adrian. He's already five
years old.
He's not going to stay a child forever. If you wait too long, even if you do find someone, it'll be too late to make

This was why Emily was so insistent—she didn’t want Adrian to miss out on having a father.
“Don’t worry, Emily,” Stella reassured her. “I’m paying attention. I'll do my best to find a suitable father for
Adrian.”
Emily wasn’t convinced. “You say that now, but how long are you going to drag this out?” She stood up, her face
full of concern. “Why wait? Tristan is right there! He’s perfect for you!”
Emily pointed toward Adrian's room, suddenly remembering something. “Your Tristan even bought a bunch of
toys for Adrian today after they went to the amusement park! Where are you going to find someone like him?
Do you really think any random man out there would treat someone else’s child this well? Tristan cares so much
for both of you!”
She continued, “When he dropped Adrian off, he was supposed to have a meeting, but he canceled it just to go
looking for you at the nightclub!
Doesn't that tell you how much you mean to him? He cares more about you than his own career!”
Emily's words followed Stella as she walked to Adrian’s room. Stella thought about what Emily had said—about
Tristan buying toys for Adrian—and opened the door.
The sight took her by surprise. A huge pile of toys, of all shapes and sizes, filled the doorway and spilled into the
room.
Emily explained, “There were so many toys, Adrian’s room couldn't fit them all! The workers had to bring them
all in.”
Stella stood speechless.
Wasn't this man just a bit too generous?
