Chapter 581
Emily smelled the faint fragrance of the man, her thoughts chaotic, yet she felt unusually at ease.
Charlie slowly cleaned her up and disinfected the wound.
As the disinfectant touched the wound, Emily subconsciously frowned, and Charlie became nervous, “Does it hurt?”
“Not at all!” Emily said.
Charlie’s movements became even gentler.
The wounds were not big, but they looked shocking. Charlie carefully applied medicine and said in a low voice, “We still need to go to the hospital later, otherwise there’ll be scars here.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtEmily stepped back a bit and said carelessly, “It’s a miracle that I’m alive. It’s no big deal if there are scars!”
“No one will want you as a girlfriend if you have scars,” Charlie chuckled.
Emily didn’t care, “I wasn’t planning on getting a boyfriend anyway!”
Charlie put away the first-aid kit and casually said, “If you can’t get one, come find me!”
Emily was taken aback, her ears turning red, and she pretended not to understand, “What do you want me to find you for, you wanna treat me like a little sister?”
Charlie’s hand holding the medicine bottle paused slightly, then he continued to pack up naturally, turned around and laughed, “Yeah, my mom lacks a daughter, and I lack a sister, it’s up to you if you wanna be part of the family!”
Emily chuckled but didn’t answer; instead, she curiously asked, “How did you come back up here?”
Charlie pulled out a fluffy little cat keychain from his pocket, “You left it in the car.”
He had received a phone call downstairs and was about to leave when he saw the keychain on the seat. He originally thought of giving it back to her tomorrow, but then he realized that since Emily moved in, he hadn’t visited her place. So, he decided to go up and check on her.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he arrived at the door, he would hear her yelling inside! Without a second thought, he just kicked the door in. Emily couldn’t help but laugh. She grabbed the keychain, kissed it, and took a deep breath as if she had narrowly escaped death. “You’re my hero!”
Charlie joined in her laughter. “I’m the one who saved your life!”
Emily’s grin faded as she tugged at the wound on her face, causing her to cry out in pain. “Stop talking!” Charlie reprimanded her with a serious expression, lightly slapping her head.
Before long, the sound of sirens blared from downstairs, indicating the arrival of the police.
Everyone made their way to the police station to provide their statements. Crystal chose not to hide anything and confessed to everything, though she couldn’t help but complain about a stomachache.
The police sent her to the hospital for an examination. It turned out to be just a false alarm; the baby in her belly was fine.
However, she was involved in an attempted murder, and there would be severe punishment waiting for her!
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmIt was already midnight when they left the police station. Charlie started the car and wanted to take Emily to the hospital to have her wound checked again.
Emily insisted not to go. Pointing at her wound, she told Charlie, “It’s already scabbed over. What’s the point of going to the hospital? So the doctor can break it open and apply medicine again?”
Charlie found her words amusing and whispered, “Alright, you don’t have to go to the hospital. But at least gather your things from the rented house and come back to the Royal Mansion tonight!”
Emily was taken aback for a moment, but then quickly shook her head, saying, “There’s no need for that!”
Frowning, Charlie responded, “Your neighborhood lacks security, and your roommate witnessed an assault without taking any action. Do you really want to continue living with her?”
Emily lowered her gaze and replied, “Today’s incident was an accident. Crystal has been arrested, so this kind of thing won’t happen again. Besides, Mathilda and I have minimal interaction, and we don’t bother each other.”
“No, you’re moving back tonight!” Charlie wouldn’t budge.
“Charlie.”
“Emily!” Charlie interrupted her, turned around to stare at her, “Either move back to the Royal Mansion or never call me Charlie again after
