Chapter 483
“I won’t have a boyfriend! And even if I did, he wouldn’t dare intrude when another girl is taking a
shower!” Emily’s voice turned icy as she spoke.
“What are you implying?” Mathilda narrowed her eyes, clearly offended. “What do you mean by that?”
“I believe I’ve made myself quite clear!” Emily disregarded Mathilda’s irritated expression and
proceeded to head upstairs.
Entering her room, she brushed her hair, put on a coat, and as she made her way out, she overheard
Mathilda arguing with her boyfriend.
Choosing not to engage, Emily simply descended the stairs and made her way to Charlie’s car.
Charlie started the engine and drove her to Serenity Heights in silence. Neither of them uttered a word
throughout the entire journey.
Charlie remained quiet, and Emily purposefully maintained her distance.
They entered a private room, and before Emily could turn around to ask Estelle, candles on the table
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtsuddenly lit up, and a slow piano rendition of “Happy Birthday” began to play.
Emily stood there dumbstruck, suddenly realizing that today was her birthday!
The lights in the room brightened, and a beautifully set table with a cake and roses awaited her.
Streamers and balloons adorned the room, and Estelle walked over with a bouquet of flowers, smiling.
“Emily, happy birthday!”
Emily was touched. “Thank you, Estelle!”
Estelle smiled, “The idea and the decorations were all Charlie’s doing. If you want to thank someone,
thank him!”
Charlie did want to give Emily a nice birthday, but after seeing her with Carson, his enthusiasm had
waned. He just smiled, “The restaurant staff did the decorations, I didn’t have to do much. No need to
thank me!”
Jonathan took out a prepared gift and handed it to Emily, “Happy birthday!”
Emily glanced at the box and knew it was pricey. She shook her head, “I’m already very grateful that
you’re celebrating my birthday with me. I don’t need any gifts!”
Estelle took the box and placed it in her hands, “This is from both my uncle and me. You have to accept
it!”
Emily accepted the gift, her eyes filling with tears. “Thank you, all of you!”
Estelle turned to Charlie and asked, “What’s the next step?”
Charlie chuckled and replied, “Haven’t you ever had a birthday? Of course, next we’ll blow out the
candles and make a wish!”
Jonathan, caught off guard by his own thoughts, glanced at Estelle, suddenly pondering if she had
never experienced a birthday celebration during her childhood.
However, Estelle had already guided Emily towards the cake. “Go ahead, blow them out!”
Closing her eyes, Emily made a wish and blew out the candles.
As they sat down, the waiter began to serve the dishes.
Emily poured drinks for everyone, with the first toast going to Charlie. “Charlie, I won’t say much, so let
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmme just toast you.”
Charlie felt uncomfortable but smiled, “If you don’t say anything, how will I know what you mean?”
Jonathan glanced at Charlie, his eyebrows raised, and realized that Charlie wasn’t joking.
Emily hesitated for a moment and then expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you for taking care of
me during this time!”
Charlie playfully clinked his glass with Emily’s and exclaimed, “Just kidding! Happy birthday!”
Emily took a large sip of her drink, coughed slightly, and turned away, reaching for a tissue.
Estelle and Jonathan exchanged glances, sensing that something was amiss with the two of them, but
unable to pinpoint exactly what it was.
Emily then raised her glass to toast Estelle and Jonathan, downing her drink each time. She quickly
finished three glasses, causing Charlie to frown and ask, “Why the hurry? It’s not like someone is trying
to take it away from you!”
Emily laughed and replied, “I’m just really happy!”
Charlie remembered Emily and Carson laughing joyfully downstairs earlier and blurted out, “Why are
you so happy?”
