Chapter 334
Matthew’s eyes darkened a bit, but the smile on his face remained, “You got a boyfriend already?”
Estelle hesitated for a moment, and shook her head.
Matthew shrugged, ‘So, you just don’t like me!”
His tone was light and playful, without a trace of annoyance.
“It’s not that!” Estelle looked genuinely sincere. It’s for some special reasons”
“Alright then!” Matthew nodded understandingly, his handsome face stayed calm and polite, “But, can
you stay here a bit longer? If you leave now, my grandma will definitely nag me later, saying that I can’t
chat with girls and managed to drive you away in just a few minutes.”
Sue couldn’t help but want to laugh, and nodded, “Let’s read here for a while then.”
It just so happened that she and Norah’s classmates didn’t have much to talk about, so sitting here. for
a while would be nice.

Estelle picked a book from the shelf and sat opposite Matthew.
A long, narrow mahogany table was set between them, covered with a light yellow table flag
embroidered with cloud patterns. Both of them sat on each side quietly reading.
Next to them, a floor-to-ceiling window was shaded with translucent white curtains. The window was
open, the summer breeze blowing in, making the curtains gently sway.
People were walking about in the garden, taking pictures, chatting.
Estelle turned the pages, her mind drifting. She couldn’t help but glance out the window, as if someone
was standing there below, shouting at her, “Baby, jump down!”
Matthew read a few pages, then looked up at Estelle and laughed, “Doesn’t this feel like we’re in the
library at University of J City?”
Estelle snapped out of her reverie, “What?”
“Us sitting face-to-face, reading books, doesn’t it remind you of students in the library of University of J
City?” Matthew repeated, smiling warmly, “It suddenly takes me back to my college days. Back then,
everyone in our dorm had girlfriends except for me. Every weekend, they’d go on dates, leaving me all
alone like a loser, so I spent all my time in the library.”
Estelle said earnestly, “Well, you must’ve been doing much better in your studies than they were!”
Matthew chuckled, putting down his book, “Let me tell you a funny story. In college, aside from
attending classes, I almost spent all my time in the library. One weekend, while I was reading, I found a
note under my book. It read, ‘I’ve been noticing you for a while. Can I ask you out to dinner? 5 o’clock
this afternoon, I’ll be waiting for you at the school gate. Be there or be square.”
“I was so excited, thinking that I was finally getting a girlfriend. So I immediately packed up my things
and left. When I got out of the library, you won’t believe what happened! Guess why?”
Estelle looked puzzled and shook her head slowly, “I’ve no idea.”

Matthew laughed, “When I stepped out, I saw the sky filled with stars. It was already 8 PMI
Estelle realized, “What about the girl? Was she still waiting for you?”
“Of course she had left! What bugged me most was that until I graduated, I never found out who had
slipped me the note.” Matthew sighed with regret, “A great relationship just slipped through my fingers!”
Estelle couldn’t help herself and laughed softly.
Upstairs, Jonathan had briefly dozed off on the couch but was now feeling even groggier. He stood up,
moved to the window, and saw the people playing on the lawn. Suddenly, his brow furrowed, and his
gaze sharpened.
He strode out and opened the door, went downstairs, and saw Janice organizing the servants to take a
large cake to the lawn outside.
He slowed his pace and casually asked, “I heard from mom that Matthew would be here today. How
come I haven’t seen him?”
Janice turned around, smiled lightly, and said, “I’m thinking of introducing Ms. Macclain to Matthew.
What do you think?”
