It seemed that the Evert family was having second thoughts about the wedding, but Charlie wasn’t too sure about
the details. “The two of them never really clicked, so a breakup isn’t surprising,” he said with a light chuckle.
Estelle thought of Marina and felt a pang of regret.
Carson Foster was never serious about relationships, and to Jonathan and Charlie, this was nothing new. They
quickly changed the subject after a brief chat.
Dinner was winding down, and while Jonathan and Charlie talked, Estelle took Kya out to the balcony to play.
Emily approached and asked, “Didn’t Magdalen have a bridal makeup trial today? She hasn’t sent me any photos,
and I’ve been dying to see!”
Estelle grinned, “There was a bit of a hiccup, so the trial’s been rescheduled to three days from now. I’ll send you
pictures then.”
“Magdalen is going to look stunning in the wedding dress you designed,” Emily said with a warm smile.
“Oh, by the way,” Estelle said, looking up, “Magdalen wants Kya to be a flower girl. She asked if you could check

“Of course, it’s no problem. My brother’s wedding was supposed to have Kya as a flower girl too, but it didn’t work
out. She’s mentioned it a few times since, so this will make up for it!”
Emily scooped up Kya, “How would you like to be a flower girl for Magdalen?”
Kya’s eyes lit up, “Is Magdalen marrying a prince?”
Emily and Estelle exchanged a glance and couldn’t help but laugh as they nodded, “Yes, Magdalen is marrying her
prince and they want you to be their flower girl!”
“Yay!” Kya clapped her hands and skipped off to find Charlie to share the exciting news.
Charlie lifted Kya up and fed her a spoonful of tapioca pudding. Kya held the small bowl herself, her cheeks puffed
out as she ate, looking utterly adorable.
Jonathan asked, “Your parents still aren’t accepting of Emily?”
If they were, Charlie wouldn’t have moved in here.
Charlie’s handsome features softened, “My mom has some old-fashioned ideas about social standing, but it’s not a
big deal. If Emily is willing to marry, we can get the certificate in no time.”
Jonathan chuckled lightly, “Emily has cut ties with the Sullivan family, so naturally, she doesn’t want you to do the
same!”
“The more considerate she is, the more it pains me,” Charlie frowned slightly. “It’s not as serious as she thinks. My
parents are reasonable people. Acceptance is just a matter of time.”
Jonathan nodded, “Your attitude is what matters most!”
Charlie smiled thinly, “That’s why I’ve never seen it as an issue.”
For him, the hardest part had always been winning over Emily’s heart. Once he was sure of her feelings, nothing
could stop them from being together.
Around nine o’clock, Kya was getting sleepy, so Estelle and Jonathan said their goodbyes.
Back upstairs, Estelle let go of Jonathan’s hand, “Go take a shower. I have a couple of design sketches to finish up.
I’ll join you after!”
“Working late?” Jonathan’s eyes were soft, “Leave it till tomorrow!”

don’t disturb me!”
Jonathan looked back at her, “Make it quick!”
“Will do!” Estelle nodded, closed the door behind her, and headed to the study.
In the study, she sat down, took off her outer garments, and glanced back at a scar on her shoulder.
She had endured many injuries, but this was a minor one—she didn’t mind it, but she didn’t want Jonathan to worry.
Estelle turned on her computer and logged into Eagle Valley, as usual, to search for news about Gab.
Lately, things had been quiet in Tripe—too quiet for comfort.
Today, Cliff had told her that his people in Tripe had crossed paths with Gab’s men, who were also looking for him.
He had also shared some other bits of information, some true, some false.
Estelle sifted through the data on the Eagle Valley information network, trying to piece together which parts of
Cliff’s information were useful and which were accurate.
As time ticked away, she suddenly heard footsteps outside the door. Estelle immediately switched to a phone
screen and quickly pulled on a cardigan.
