Chapter 1720
“Huh?” Mrs. Simmons faltered, before finally mumbling, “Yes, yes, it was Estelle!”
Emily nodded and invited Mrs. Simmons to join her for breakfast.
After they finished eating, Emily texted Estelle, [Last night, Magdalen and I were both drunk last night. Did you get
the check? How much was it? I was supposed to treat. I’ll transfer you the money.]
Estelle quickly responded. [It wasn’t me. It should’ve been Charlie.]
Emily was taken aback. She texted back. [Charlie was there last night too?) [Yeah, he came with Jonathan] Estelle
replied.
Emily wanted to call Charlie and find out how much money he had covered for her last night, but thought better of

After breakfast, Emily headed to work. On the subway, she was devoid of the usual enthusiasm and anticipation for
the workday.
Perhaps, it was her last day working at Paragon Pixel Design.
Once she got to the office and settled behind her desk, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of loss. She loved her job
and loved working with the seasoned designers in the firm. The environment was great, but it seemed to be ending
teo soon.
Pulling herself together, Emily began packing her things.
In the director’s office, Cedric was informed of the decision to fire Emily. He frowned and asked, “What did Emily do
wrong? There has to be a reason!”
Ron scoffed, “Beck called first thing in the morning complaining about Emily. He threatened to end all collaboration

Impatient, Ron retorted, “We’re not short of good designers. What we need are big clients like Beck. Can’t you
grasp this simple logic?”
Disappointed, Cedric glared at Ron. “We, as Emily’s superiors, should protect her, not sacrifice her for some
scumbag’s interests.”

“Beck will be here soon. You can take it up with him. If he forgives Emily, I have nothing to say!” Ron coldly replied,
“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have work to do.”
Cedric stormed out of the office, leaving Ron smirking.
Around nine, Ron’s assistant called Emily to the director’s office.
Emily was prepared for the worst. Without asking any questions, she nodded in agreement, ‘I’ll be right there.”
Edgar leaned in and joked, “You’re a regular visitor in the director’s office now. Are they praising you again? If so,
lunch is on you.”
“Sure, lunch is on me!” Emily laughed, said nothing more, and with her ID and resignation letter, headed to the
director’s office.
Crossing the long hallway, Emily stood outside the office, clutching her resignation letter, and took a deep breath.
