Chapter 1602
Magdalen twirled her fingers around the man’s tie, gazing up at him with a playful smile. “And here I thought you’d
never ask.” Morrison leaned in closer, his voice laced with a hint of danger. “Magdalen, I didn’t ask because I trust
you. Don’t push your luck!”
Magdalen chuckled. “You thought I was doing this on purpose? Don’t flatter yourself!”
Morrison smirked, planting a gentle kiss on her eyelid before scooping her up in his arms and heading upstairs.
Meanwhile, Kent pulled the car into the residential complex and parked in front of Sunset Ridge.
Charlie helped Kya out of the car, handing her over to Emily with a distant demeanor. “Thanks, Mr. James.”
“No problem,” Charlie replied nonchalantly. He turned to look at Kya, “Go with your mom, sweetheart. I will come

Kya frowned, “Aren’t you coming home with us, Uncle Charlie? I don’t like Mom’s stories. I prefer yours.”
Charlie remained silent, glancing over at Emily.
Emily spoke up quickly, “Uncle Charlie has other things to do, sweetie. No whining!”
Kya pouted and looked down.
Emily said her goodbyes to Charlie, her tone polite, and began to walk towards the building with Kya.
Leaning against the car, Charlie watched as Kya kept looking back at him. A surge of unexpressed anger welled up
inside him, yet he had to maintain a gentle facade for Kya’s sake.
In his nearly three decades of life, he’d never been so infuriated by a woman. His head was buzzing, and his heart
ached!

“Emily, are you busy today? Lunch is on me.”
Emily declined politely, “I might not have time during lunch.”
“Emily, you’re always so defensive around me. Just because our companies are in business together, does it mean
we can’t be friends?” Wilson chuckled warmly.
Emily smiled faintly. “It’s not that. It’s just that it’s a sensitive time. Being too close might not be good for you
either”
Wilson laughed softly, “I understand. Then I’ll simply withdraw from the bidding. The James family’s project doesn’t
have a significant impact on our company anyway. If it means losing your friendship over a contract, I’d rather not
take the project.”

Emily frowned, “There’s no need for that. The bidding meeting will begin in a few days, and you’ve prepared for a
long time. You shouldn’t give up.”
“Then don’t be so distant with me!” Wilson chuckled, “I didn’t seek you out to talk about work today. It’s something
about Betty
Emily inquired, “Betty?”
—”Could you step-out for a bit? It’s easier to talk face-to-face. It’s hard to explain everything over the phone”
Emily thought for a moment, “Okay.
Wilson immediately laughed, “Then I’ll pick you up for lunch, and we can chat while we eat.”
“Sounds good.”
“Great, I won’t hold you up any longer. See you later!”
“Alright”
Emily hung up the phone, recalling Betty mentioning that Wilson was pursuing her. Was Wilson asking for her help?
She put down her phone, thinking that Wilson and Betty would make a good pair. She was more than happy to see
them together, and of course, she’d be glad to help
