Chapter 1199
“How did the bidding meeting go today?” Tracy asked with her usual coolness.
Emily explained, “Mr. James was originally going to have you attend this morning, but you had an important client to
meet, so he made a last-minute decision for me to tag along”
“No problem!” Tracy said, “We both worked on this bid; you know the content like the back of your hand, so it
doesn’t really matter who went!”
“Okay, I’ll send you the latest updates on the project later,” Emily said gently.
“No rush; I pulled an all-nighter and didn’t get much shut-eye. Go make me a cup of coffee,” Tracy ordered, typing
away at her computer, not even looking up.
“Sure!” Emily responded promptly, turning to make her coffee.

written down how many I need. Chop-chop.”
“Okay!” Emily responded.
“Emily, take these documents to the business department!”
“Emily, this is the data the tech department needs; Mr. James signed off on it this morning. Get a move on!”
Emily was kept busy with tasks for Tracy, and before she knew it, an hour had flown by.
When Charlie came asking for the financial report of the bidding company, Emily had made no progress.
Tracy stood up, furrowing her brows at Emily. “If you can’t handle it, you could at least let me know! Why keep
silent? This is holding up Mr. James’ work! You know how particular he is about efficiency, right? You still have a
ways to go to keep up with his pace.”
Emily didn’t explain; she just said quietly, “Yes.”
Tracy turned to Charlie, smiling, and said, “Let me handle the financial report; I’ll have it sent to you within an
hour!”
Charlie glanced at Emily’s downcast eyes and checked his watch. “I have to step out; I’ll be back in an hour.”
“Alright!” Tracy immediately replied, “Don’t worry, I’ll surely complete it within an hour!”
Charlie gave Emily one more look before striding away.
Once Charlie was gone, Tracy casually sat back at her desk, turning to Emily and asking, “What are you standing
around for? Get the financial report ready and send it to me in forty-five minutes.”
Emily didn’t say anything; she just sat down and started working.
Suddenly, the elevator doors on the thirty-ninth floor opened again, with the sound of high heels approaching. Emily
looked up, immediately standing, “Hello!”
Waters was tall and wore a beige knee-length dress. Her wavy hair cascaded over her shoulders, radiating an

haven’t seen you before!”
Emily nodded. “Yes, I just started recently.”
“Ms. Waters!”
A voice full of surprise came from the direction of the break room. Tracy rushed over, a broad smile on her face.
“Ms. Waters, it’s been a while since we last saw you!”
It was then that Emily realized Tracy wasn’t always poker-faced.
Waters handed Tracy a shopping bag with a high-end brand logo and said, “I was out of town a few days ago; I just
got back yesterday. This is for you!”
“Wow! I’ve been eyeing this style for a while but couldn’t find it here!” Tracy grinned from ear to ear, her eyes
squinting with joy. “Thank you, Ms. Waters, for always bringing me things I love from your trips; you’re too kind.”
“It’s no trouble, just something I picked up along the way.” Waters smiled and then turned to Emily and said, “I
didn’t know there was a new face; I didn’t prepare anything for you. I’ll make it up to you next time.”
Emily shook her head and said, “I don’t need anything, but thank you anyway.”
“Is Charlie here?” Waters asked, “Is he in his office?”
