Chapter 685
Maggie's legs felt like jelly, as if she might collapse at any moment.
What did Daphne just say?
That Maurice had a vasectomy?
Meaning Teresa wasn't Maurice's daughter!
Then who was the man she had that one-night stand with?
And why would Maurice lie to her?
Maggie was desperate for answers, her heart racing almost out of control.
"You're tellingyou believe Maurice got snipped just because he says so? You think his acting is that good?"
Daphne snorted, stubbing out her cigarette on the ground before casually taking out a breath spray and using it
right in front of Maggie.
"Looking for solid proof, huh? Lettell you, | was there with him when he got that vasectomy. Just in case, I'll
send you the medical report later. So Maggie, we'll be seeing each other again soon."
With that, Daphne raised an eyebrow at Maggie, gave a cheeky smile, and strutted off.

Maggie was frozen in place for a long while before she remembered to leave.
How she managed to leave or how she got into Frederick's car, Maggie couldn't recall.
All she remembered was seeing Frederick alone in the car and immediately asking:
"Where's Yuna?"
"Chuck took her home."
"Did you find anything? Was there something wrong with the vitamins?"
He shook his head: "Nothing at all. Yuna's tests cback clean; it was just a bottle of regular vitamins."
Maggie let out a sigh of relief.
Turning to face her, Frederick buckled Maggie's seatbelt before starting the car, his tone revealing his irritation,
"Why haven't you been answering your phone?" "I might not have heard it."
"Didn't you have something to tell me?"
Maggie swallowed, her throat dry, unsure of where to start, but decided to begin at the beginning.
"| just, by chance, ran into Maurice in the fire escape, but he didn't see me. He was at the hospital looking to
strike a deal with the dean, something about using microchips in healthcare."
Frederick paused, clearly confused: "He wants to use microchips in the medical field?"
Maggie nodded, somber, "Yeah, that's what it sounded like."
"Madman!" Frederick clenched his teeth.
"Have you been looking for that hacker? | overheard them saying the hacker told Maurice to meet him in
Veracoria, at 25 Cheshire Avenue."
Frederick's excitement was palpable: "Are you sure?"
Leaning her head against the window, Maggie's voice was tired: "I'm sure, | heard it myself."
Frederick immediately called Chuck, his words brief: "Keep a close eye on Maurice, especially any travel plans.
Report back toimmediately."
Frederick was gearing up for something big, Maggie could tell.
She used to find the rivalry between Frederick and Maurice fascinating, but now, she couldn't muster any
interest.
Daphne's words outside the hospital echoed in her ears, lingering and unsettling.
So, Maggie didn't talk much, her mood sour as she pulled Teresa's photo from her wallet, staring at it intently.

every reason to take Teresa and leave.
But it felt like fate was playing a cruel joke on her.
It was because she thought she was carrying Maurice's child that she and Frederick had reached this point of no
return.
Had she known the truth sooner, could all this heartache have been avoided?
Catching Maggie in his peripheral vision, Frederick asked, "Missing her?" Maggie sniffed, her voice muffled:
"Yeah."
"Then let's go home."
Frederick steered the car towards the Winston Mansion at the next turn, his decision final.
Maggie quickly stopped him: "No!"
Confused, Frederick asked, "What's wrong?"
Turning to face him, Maggie looked at Frederick's stunning profile and finally spoke.
"Teresa isn't Maurice's child."
The car jerked as Frederick hit the brakes hard, shocked.
