(Earlier today-memory)
When | woke up earlier, | asked Matriarch Evelyn to helpinvestigate about the attack.
She toldthat she had already investigated that matter.
Evidence showed that the contact number was indeed mine, but it was proven to have been hacked at the time
of the incident. | had a solid alibi at that time. | was at Canis Enterprises that entire day, surrounded by
witnesses.
With this evidence, | could prove my innocence to Ethan.
But Bernard didn't find anything linking Victoria to the attacker. No transaction records, no prior connection, no
secret meetings.
So although | could clear my name, but couldn't expose Victoria's scheme.
So | rejected Matriarch Evelyn's suggestion to present this evidence to Ethan. His apology means nothing to
Ethan's heart holds no place for me. Even with proof, he would still doubt me. In his eyes, there were only
three people present at that scene who else could it be but me?
Matriarch Evelyn studied me, misunderstanding my refusal. "Liv, are you just going to let this go? Out of love
and forgiveness?"
| met her gaze, my voice hardening. "No!"
(Back to now)
The car pulled up to Matriarch Evelyn's Villa, its tires crunching on the gravel driveway. Victoria sat across

| stepped out first, standing tall despite my weakened state. The bodyguards dragged Victoria from the vehicle
and threw her roughly to the ground.
She landed hard on her knees, her muffled curses escaping around the edges of the gag. Her perfectly styled
hair was now disheveled, her designer clothes smeared with dirt.
| gave her a cold glance, then signaled to the bodyguards. "Take her inside."
As they hauled Victoria to her feet, | turned and walked toward the villa's entrance. Behind me, | heard the
sounds of struggle as Victoria fought against her captors.
Her shoes coff as they dragged her, her stockinged feet scraping against the rough ground. Small bloody
trails marked her path as the stones cut through the delicate fabric.
When we reached the basement entrance, Victoria's eyes widened with
realization. She knew exactly what | had planned.
bodyguards held her firmly between them as | approached,
| nodded, and one of them removed her gag.
"You b***h-Victoria began, but | cut her off with a sharp slap across her face.
The sound echoed in the empty space. A trickle of blood appeared at the corner of her mouth where my ring
had caught her lip.
Victoria's eyes widened in shock, then narrowed with fury. But she swallowed whatever insult she'd been
about to hurl.
What
gives you the right to imprison me?" she demanded, her voice trembling with rage.
| laughed, the sound hollow and cold in the stone chamber. "You're askingabout rights? How
Victoria glared at me. "You have no justification for this!"
amusing."
"Justification?" | echoed, circling her slowly. "Do | need one? Did you need justification to frme for
Emma's attack?"
| knew | lacked.concrete evidence against Victoria. Clearing my nonly implied she staged the attack
herself. But Ethan's love for her would blind him to any evidence; her tears would soften his heart.
"Ethan will never believe you," Victoria spat, as if reading my thoughts. "He loves me, not you."
“I hold no expectations from him anymore,” | replied coldly. "But you, Victoria-you were emboldened by his
favor. You dared to frme, which led to my confinement and torment."
Victoria's lips curved into a smug smile. "And I'd do it again."
| stepped closer, my voice dropping to a whisper. "I won't forget what Ethan did.
But you, Victoria-you will pay for what you did. Even if | can't avenge Lily immediately, | won't suffer last night's
humiliation in silence."
Victoria's eyes flashed with defiance. "You'll regret this, Olivia. When Ethan finds out-
"When Ethan finds out what?" | interrupted. "That | treated you exactly as he treated me? Go ahead, call his
name. See what good it does you."
Victoria straightened, her chin lifting. "Ethan will destroy you for this."

| scoffed, gesturing around the basement. "Let him try. For now, let's see what he can do for you."
| nodded to the bodyguards. "Throw her in."
They released her arms and shoved her forward. Victoria stumbled, falling hard onto the stone floor.
She winced in pain, her face contorting. When she looked up at me, her eyes blazed with hatred.
Victoria glanced around the basement, a smirk forming on her lips. She clearly thought this confinement was
laughable compared to what she'd expected.
| could read her thoughts in her defiant gaze. She wasn't afraid of the dark. If Emma couldn't find her, she would
call Ethan, who would rescue her. Then, she would makepay dearly.
"What are you thinking about?" | asked, my voice deceptively gentle. "That this basement isn't so bad? That
Ethan will cfor you soon?"
Victoria said nothing, but her smug expression confirmed my suspicions.
"Tell me, Victoria," | continued, "are you still afraid of snakes?"
The change in her expression was immediate. The smugness vanished, replaced by a flicker of fear she
couldn't quite hide.
"I don't know what you're talking about," she said, but her voice had lost its confident edge.
| smiled and signaled to one of the bodyguards. He disappeared briefly, returning with a covered cage.
Even from where | stood, | could hear the soft hissing sounds emanating from within.
Victoria's face drained of color. She retreated until her back hit the wall.
"You wouldn't dare," she whispered, staring at the cage with undisguised terror
