Chapter 394 Insincere The doctor nodded patiently. "It looks serious, but it's really not. The swelling will go down in a couple of days." "Heh." Yvette let out a mocking laugh as she looked at Douglas and Melody with amusement.
She wondered why she hadn't noticed before that Douglas and Melody were a perfect match. She sincerely hoped they'd stay together forever.
Douglas didn't even look up as he pouted and blew on Melody's ankle. Daniel and Simon exchanged a glance, both showing helpless expressions.

Melody's heart clenched. She smoothed her hair and put on a considerate expression as she turned to Theo. "Theo, Ms. Shaw and I are both fine. There's no need to trouble them with the footage." Theo didn't respond. Instead, he pointed at the table, signaling the staff to set down the laptop.
Melody tried again to stop them, but Yvette immediately sensed something was off. Her eyes narrowed in suspicion. "You didn't say a word when Douglas was accusing others, but now that they're pulling up the footage, you suddenly want to play the nice guy. Are you feeling guilty?" Melody's face stiffened. Her hand clenched tightly on her lap, and her heartbeat quickened. Yet, she still put on a pitiful expression. "You're misunderstanding me. I just don't want to make things difficult for them." Yvette didn't believe for a second that Melody was acting out of kindness. She pulled Sierra into her arms and patted her gently as she asked in a soft voice, "What really happened?" Sierra shook her head slightly and answered in a trembling voice, "I don't know what happened. The horse charged straight at me... Yvette, I almost died." Yvette could feel how tightly she was squeezing her, but she didn't complain. She just held her closer. "It's okay. Don't be scared." Seeing how terrified she was, Theo's heart tightened. His dissatisfaction with Douglas only deepened, and his voice turned colder. "Mr. Brown, get your ass here!" The way he addressed Douglas made it clear to everyone that he was truly angry.
Douglas froze for a moment before getting up, resentment flashing in his eyes.
The staff member played the video, and the cause of the accident beccrystal clear. Everyone's gaze shifted to Melody.
She had conveniently left out a few crucial details when crying to Douglas earlier. She hadn't mentioned how dangerous Sierra's situation was. She certainly hadn't said that the accident was caused by her losing control of her horse.
In the entire ordeal, Sierra had suffered the most unfairly. She had nearly died because of Melody and had been blamed by Douglas for being heartless and ignoring Melody afterward.
"Oh my god, Sterra was almost thrown off that horse! If she had fallen, she would've been trampled by both horses multiple times." Yvette gasped at the footage, clutching Sierra tighter. "You're seriously lucky to bevel.ne Simon and Daniel finally understood why she had been so shaken up. If they had walked so close to death, they'd be terrified, too.

The most embarrassed person in the room was Douglas. He replayed the footage over and over, struggling to apcept reality. When he finally cto terms with it, he turned to look at Melody.
"Douglas, I was really scared. I didn't mean to run into Ms. Shaw," Melody pleaded with tears hanging from her lashes as she explained desperately. Whether or not anyone else believed her, Douglas did.
Without hesitation, he kneeled back down and continued icing her ankle. His voice was firm. "I believe you." Theo's gaze darkened as he looked at him and furrowed his brows. "Apologize." Douglas kept his head down and remained silent for a long moment before finally muttering, "I'm sorry." Completely insincere.
Daniel and Simon both felt he had gone too far and were about to speak had had her up when Sierra, who had eyes closed the entire time, suddenly said, "I want to go home."
